" 'If they observe a suspect with a knife and her being stabbed, it would not have been wise to intervene,' Winstead said."

If the sheeple weren't disarmed, one could have detained this sociopath until police arrived.....or they may have been able to aid the victim by preventing the assault altogether.

"A Fort Worth police officer was accidentally shot in the left hand...when a gun discharged as he was disassembling it to clean at the department's firing range." [The "officer was shot", "gun discharged" phrases seem to suggest that the firearm has a mind of its own. Fortunately, blame is also laid where it belongs, below.]

"The incident is under investigation...as...in all police-involved shootings."

"Obviously, the range will again review the policies that they have there, but I think this wasn't due to anything that was not established in a policy or any lack of a policy...I think it was just oversight on the officer's part." - Lt. Al Allcon

"A federal agent who allegedly terrorized a group of Indianola teenagers who had thrown toilet paper in his yard was charged Tuesday with drunken driving and multiple counts of assault."

"Jon Carl Petersen, 41, is the head of the Iowa office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms."

"The teens said Petersen aimed a gun at them during the confrontation, which occurred a few blocks from the agent's home shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 16."

They also confiscated a loaded five-shot revolver from the front seat of his government-owned Jeep, which is equipped with emergency lights and a siren that he allegedly used to stop the pickup truck. Petersen was arrested at the scene for alleged public intoxication."

"Parker said the weapons charges, which are aggravated misdemeanors, and the drunken-driving charge, a serious misdemeanor, stem from the incident with the youths in the pickup truck. "The .223 caliber bullet holds more gunpowder"

This article is pretty much the same inaccurate and misleading BS we've seen all over the world lately. But one quote is worth sharing:

Jim Kouri, vice president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police, in proving himself to be gun-ignorant, actually said: "the .223 caliber bullet holds more gunpowder and travels three times faster than the popular .22 caliber used in many handguns and rifles."

For those new to firearms -- or ignorant of common knowledge, like this politi-cop -- a 'bullet' doesn't hold gunpowder; a cartridge does. The bullet and the gunpowder reside in the cartridge, and the powder is ignited inside the cartridge (by striking a cartridge's primer with the firing pin) in order to propel the bullet.

Great 'expert' these gun prohibitionists have managed to use, isn't he? Almost as bright as those seeking to ban "semi-auto revolvers."

Are any of our police officers around here embarrassed by this guy?

Excerpts:

"Some Miramar parents are questioning whether police overreacted when they used pepper spray and a Taser stun gun on a 15-year-old girl following a disturbance on a school bus."

"The girl, a Miramar High sophomore, is under house arrest, facing a felony charge of resisting an officer with violence and two counts of resisting an officer without violence."

" 'For them to beat up a young girl like that and put Mace in her face and handcuff her like that, it didn't make sense to me,' said Leon DeVose, a parent who saw the incident. 'They don't even do hard-core criminals the way they did her. They went all out.' "

"Miramar police say their actions were justified. The teen struck an officer and resisted arrest, according to police reports."

" 'This was within our guidelines,' said the department's spokesman, Officer Bill Robertson. 'This fell within our policy to use this nonlethal weapon. As she was resisting, she didn't respond to the pepper spray. At that time, to stop her from being injured, the Taser was deployed.' "

"The teen, by all accounts, was not involved in the original bus incident -- where students on their way home were tossing wads of paper at each other. She spoke up in defense of another student whom police were questioning, witnesses say." ...

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A local businessman said he has had enough from a couple of thieves.

Scott Hunter said the thieves backed up a truck to one of his trailers near Rockwell and Reno, trying to steal it.

Hunter walked out of his home with his gun drawn while talking with 911.

"It's just chafing my butt, man," he said. "The devil ... he drew first blood that's it -- that's it."

The thieves left so quickly that they left the truck's tailgate behind.

Hunter is not sure if he hit either suspect.

Police made no immediate arrests.

Why Ballistic Fingerprinting Is Not An Effective Crime Tool

"After a killing spree in the national capital area, gun haters are once again using the Beltway shootings as an excuse for more gun control."

"USA Today. The New York Times. Various syndicated columnists. They're all jumping on the gun control bandwagon. This should be no surprise, for gun control advocates feel that restrictions on firearms are the cure for all of societies' ills: from stopping murderers to curing the common cold."

"Remember how Mayor David Dinkins responded to the stabbing murder of a Utah tourist on the New York City subway in 1990? In a subsequent press conference, Mayor Dinkins said that the stabbing (with a knife) proved that we needed more gun control, such as a national waiting period on firearm purchases!"

"Well, the latest weapon in the gun hater's arsenal is the registration of firearms. Specifically, they want to register the unique 'ballistic fingerprint' that each firearm leaves on a bullet or cartridge case after it is fired, and trace it back to the original buyer of the gun."

"Ballistic fingerprinting will hardly ever solve a crime, but it will accomplish something else -- a gun registry tied to the owners of the guns." ...

"The Beltway sniper case shows that matching a bullet to a gun helps police track a killer. A national ballistics database should come next"...
-------
Not much new in this ill-informed fantasy. But one quote is worth sharing. In trying to compare easily-changed ballistic markings/markers in firearms to human fingerprints, this anti-privacy female says:
"Few people complain about being fingerprinted anymore. After all, it helps trace missing children and provides a record for police in case harm comes to you. It's a public-safety tool, and so is ballistics fingerprinting."
The point of unalienable rights is that the ignorance of the majority cannot be used to tyrannize a minority.

People are free to willingly hand over their fingerprints, retinal scans, DNA samples, stool samples and whatever else they please -- but forcing innocent people to submit to such searches without probable cause is not only unconstitutional, it's outrageous and unacceptable.

Can you imagine Patrick Henry submitting a fingerprint or a DNA sample to a band of King George's redcoats? Or Thomas Jefferson submitting his rifle to a registration scheme under some fancy name like "ballistics fingerprinting"?
