"It sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it, a peaceable armed citizen? If they like peace so much, what are they doing armed? After all, aren't we told the only purpose of a gun is to kill people?"

"If that's true, though, America's pea...y'know, this is getting unwieldy. Let's just agree for the rest of this column to call 'em PACs. Anyway, if that's true, you couldn't tell it by the PACs--they have pretty much been utter failures at slaughtering their fellow human beings ..." ...

"Folks,

"As the probable results of the election will diminish the utility of political arguments to maintain our liberties, we must of need then turn to the practical arguments left to us. Thus you will be seeing from me -- as time goes by and events go spiraling to their logical, if bloody, conclusion -- items such as the one below which have information that liberty-minded individuals may find of use in the days ahead. "I will tag these as 'Praxis' to delineate them from the usual political hot air which I provide in quantity. With a H/T to Texas Resistance of www.awrm.org, I present one such gem of praxis." ...

"Republic: Three wolves, a sheep and three million sheepdogs voting on whether the wolves have overstayed their welcome."

"Sorry, but 'progressives,' or your old moniker 'liberals,' are still collectivists. Collectivists murdered hundreds of millions in the name of their 'cult of personality' leaders pushing various perfectibility of man schemes during the 20th Century."

"But here's a clue - you know why they didn't here? Because the American citizenry is armed."

"It is, except for you liberal pukes who have willingly disarmed yourselves, still armed." ...

"We've heard a lot about gun control and the second amendment in this election season. A McCain-Palin poster, featuring Alaska's 44-year-old governor with a big gun[sic] and the viewer in her rifle sights[sic], is just one of the more graphic indications that gun control is a lightning-rod issue that distracts, distorts, and dismays."

"The Issue: A proposal would allow people to carry concealed weapons at some national parks and wildlife refuges."

"Our Opinion: There is no need to lift the ban on concealed weapons, which has been in place for 25 years."

"Officials at the Interior Department appear to be trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist by proposing visitors to some national parks and wildlife areas be allowed to carry concealed weapons." ...

"The proposal came about not because the National Park Service wants it, but because gun advocates say visitors need to protect themselves from other park visitors as well as from wildlife." ...

KABA Note: The 'problem' is not crime in the parks. The problem is denial of a fundamental individual human and civil right.

"A lot of people seem to think that if Obama is elected he's going to take away their guns. This will never happen. It would be a major task for Congress to repeal the Second Amendment ... The lessons of history are helpful too. During the Weimar Republic in Germany ... the government banned gun ownership ... When Hitler rose to power in 1933, he did so confident in the knowledge that he was taking control over a people who were disarmed and unarmed. One wonders if he would have been so confident had he known that his opponents had weapons (many Germans in fact deplored Hitler and his sick, twisted ideology). And if the Jews had guns one can't help but wonder if more Jews would have lived. ..."
