This past weekend, a chocolate Labrador retriever named "Trigger" accidentally shot an Indiana woman in the foot during a hunting trip, according to news reports. An Indiana woman had left her loaded shotgun on the ground with the safety off. Trigger stepped on it, inadvertently pressing the trigger. The woman took a shotgun blast to her left foot at point-blank range.

The University's campus carry working group held its town hall meeting on Oct. 15 to discuss the possible ideas on exclusion zones and how to implement the policy for this campus.

The working group has until Nov. 1 to form and submit their proposals to President Dr. Rodney Mabry.

A pivotal hearing in the decade long saga of the city of Delafield vs. the Hartland Sportsman's Club is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Lawyers for the gun club are expected to ask Circuit Court Judge Maria Lazar to overturn a 2013 decision by the city to deny a conditional-use permit for the gun club. They are also seeking to have the city reinstate the permit that it revoked in 2010.

Fifteen young hunters, their mentors and other volunteers took part in the Saline County Chapter of Pheasants Forever’s Youth Mentor Hunt Oct. 24.

According to chapter president Dean Blaser, 15 is the most youth who have participated in the annual event.

In an attempt to curb the number of illegal firearms that flow from southwest suburban Lyons to Chicago, the village passed an ordinance Tuesday requiring its lone gun shop to keep extensive records of the weapons it sells and to report unusual activity to local authorities.

On June 1, 2015 Republican governor Greg Abbott signed into action the “campus carry” law. Effective in August 2016, this law will allow licensed college students over the age of 21 to carry a concealed handgun throughout public university campuses in Texas. This law was promoted on the platform that giving the students the ability to carry their own concealed handgun on campus, will promote student safety.

Instead of body cams or training on how to deal with the mentally ill, cops in California are getting nunchuck lessons — seriously.

Although the origin of the nunchucks is unclear, they can be traced back to Okinawan martial arts. The nunchucks or nunchaku are largely ineffective against most other weapons, which made them historically unpopular. Police said no charges have been filed following a weekend fatal shooting that involved brothers-in-law.

Gwinnett Police said Tuesday morning Brian E. Davis, 48, died from multiple gunshot wounds after the incident around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at 369 Freeport Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
