"Federal agents were looking at area gun records and purchases, but Moose said the gun could have been purchased elsewhere."

"Another McCallum ad distorts Doyle’s position on gun rights, saying Doyle, Wisconsin attorney general, wants to take away hunters’ guns. It contends that Doyle opposed an amendment to the constitution to guarantee the right to keep and bear arms. Doyle’s spokesman said he fought the amendment because the U.S. Constitution already guarantees the right to bear arms, and a state amendment would allow legal challenges to gun laws on the books."

"I firmly believe that the function of security screening for the airlines should be taken over by the government, and their promise to federalize screeners is a step in the right direction. However, I believe that the people who should be doing the screening should not be the usual airport screeners."

"Instead, hire and train police officers to handle the screening process. They have the education to make judgments with more certainty about what should and should not be confiscated ..."

"Every year, more than twice as many officers die by their own hand as are killed in the line of duty, according to the FBI." [They should ban suicide. Ooops... they already did.]

"Twenty-two of every 100,000 officers kill themselves, double the rate of suicide in the general population, the FBI says."

Well, at least he's getting some remedial testing and training.

"Next week, the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to VOTE on legislation, sponsored by the NRA gun lobby (H.R. 2037 and H.R. 123), that would prevent gun violence victims from seeking justice in our nation's courts and give special legal immunity to the gun industry. We need your help to defeat this outrageous bill in the House. Please call your House Representative and the House Leadership TODAY and tell them to oppose all attempts to strip gun violence victims of their legal rights!"

"But illegal guns also play a role in the homicides in Bayview Hunter's Point, Chicago and Washington, D.C. It was the cartoon's exclusive focus on Oakland that offended several Oakland residents who commented about it to me."

"What the PA police touted as an innovative way of tracking crime patterns has backfired. A growing number of local police can't or won't use the Internet to report their crime statistics. As a result, the public gets a murky view of crime rates in PA."

Preventing violence in schools was the topic of a 2 day conference in OK City. Students from around the state gathered to discuss the warning signs of violence & strategies to prevent it.

"Maybe just smiling at someone when you pass them in the hallway, or speaking to someone you don't normally talk to. Going out of your way to include somebody else. There's all kinds of ways you can help stop violence."

The right to keep and bear arms includes blades of all shapes and sizes.
-------
CALEDONIA -- "Criminal charges will not be filed against man accused of, in self-defense, stabbing another man five times early Wednesday morning outside a Douglas Avenue bar, authorities said."

"The victim, a 31-year-old Caledonia man, was being treated at St. Mary's Medical Center on Thursday for a collapsed lung and cuts to his chest, wrist and thigh. The injuries were not life-threatening, Caledonia police said." [If he's a "victim," then why are there no charges? An aggressor who gets perforated isn't a victim at all, he's a fool.]

"Police arrested a 39-year-old Caledonia man on Wednesday in connection with the incident. Reports said the suspect admitted to stabbing the victim, but said he only pulled a box-cutter with a 2-inch blade after the victim repeatedly attacked him."

"Witnesses to the fight, which occurred in and around Topper's Tavern, 4507 Douglas Ave., supported the 39-year-old's claims. The two men involved in the fight did not know each other, reports said." ...

"In 2001, [Beryl] Raviscioni [domestic violence coordinator for Victim Services at the Fresno's Marjaree Mason Center] said, Victim Services saw 14 abuse incidents involving guns, eight with a cutting or piercing instrument, nine with a blunt object and 126 where bodily force was used."

" 'In 62 incidents, no weapon was used, these people were beaten with fists or foot,' she said."

REPEAT...
WeaponVictims
Firearm14
Sharp object     8
Blunt object     9
Bodily force     126

Now how many of those attacked could have avoided victimization if they'd had a handgun handy and were trained and ready to use it?

Instead, we get this nonsense:

"How do you beat a man who beats a women? By calling Crime Stoppers," Brad Stevens, Crime Stoppers coordinator and detective with the Fresno Police Department, said.

"The way Bonnie Kallestad sees things, the 911 emergency dispatch line is just that, the number you call when you need help right away."

"But Kallestad said that wasn't the case after midnight Aug. 11 when she, her adult son and his girlfriend were attacked by two men who chased them and blocked their car on Frontage Road just west of Belgrade."

"One of the pursuers jumped out and hurled a baseball bat at the car as Kallestad's son David Kallestad turned the vehicle around to get away, and then the attackers continued to follow them. The dispatcher told David Kallestad, who was driving while talking to the dispatcher by cell phone, to lead the suspects to the Belgrade police station."

" 'Why she thought (the suspects) would actually follow us to the police station is beyond me,' Bonnie Kallestad said. 'Maybe they better take a real serious look at how they're being trained, or what's going on, because it's not funny.' "

SUGGESTION TO "HELP ME, HELP ME" PEOPLE SUCH AS BONNIE:

First dial .357, .38, .44, or .45 -- then dial 911 to tell them where the puddle is. They'll arrive much faster when you tell them you just shot a guy who came at you with a baseball bat. The courts have ruled that police officers have no duty to protect you anyway, so be prepared to deal with such thuggery on your own, then call for backup.

FULL TEXT BELOW...
-------
If a gun control paradise like Maryland has this much death by firearm, how effective can gun control really be?
-------
“In 1999, gun homicide was the leading cause of death for Maryland residents ages 15-34 years, and the third leading cause of death for Maryland residents ages 10-14. Guns are the most frequently used weapon in Maryland homicides. 75 percent of all homicides in 1999, were committed with guns.

“In 1999, there were 657 gun deaths in Maryland – over fifty per month. Of the total gun deaths, 396 were homicides, 241 were suicides, 1 was an unintentional shooting, 5 were shootings of undetermined intent, and 14 were in the category of ‘legal intervention.’

“Maryland gun deaths have not decreased as sharply as they have in the U.S. as a whole. Maryland is the largest single source of traced guns from Baltimore crimes, accounting for 61 percent. Many of the crime guns recovered in Baltimore are new, meaning that soon after sale, they are diverting from the legal to illegal markets, for example, by straw purchase.”

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another, and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him. — Thomas Jefferson
