Black intellectual bigotry endangering poor urban blacks by disparaging guns

"Two separate statements from prominent black intellectuals made Tuesday, one from Chicago and one from Virginia Tech, reveal anti-gun bigotry with foundations that include chronic dismissal of whites through negative stereotypes. Writing for Open Salon, commentator and editor of the 'We are Respectable Negroes' blog Chauncey DeVega, and poet and 'distinguished professor of English' Nikki Giovanni, both with an established history of fixating on race, used their positions of influence to advance the collective at the expense of the individual, widen the racial divide, and disparage guns and gun owners." ...

... "When Cody went to the ATF office to get clarification, it turned into in interrogation ... He was brought into a room, questioned, and told the ATF would be sending officers to his apartment for an 'investigation.'"

"The ATF even admitted it didn't think he had broken any laws. So in this case, 'investigation' can be taken to mean 'intimidation.' And isn't that cops' main job these days, strapped up with flat-tops, thigh holsters, and jackboots?"

"That's where this story stands for now, with one young man standing up to an oppressive government/corporate regime via any means possible."

"Cody has hired a lawyer and plans to incorporate his project and apply for a federal firearms manufacturing license." ...

... "While the NRA-PVF endorsement is good, but hardly surprising news, another situation brewing in California that could energize western sportsmen to vote next month has finally erupted. That state will change the name of its Fish & Game agency to the Department of Fish & Wildlife. Washington hunters know all-too-well how that worked out in the Evergreen State after more than two decades of what many feel has been an erosion of sportsman influence, and a decline in agency responsiveness to their concerns." ...

"For about twenty years now I’ve been writing about guns professionally, that is, someone has paid me to do it. I’ve written on all manner of firearms from inline muzzle-loaders to precision bolt-action rifles to squad-automatic weapons. Although I’ve never tried to be controversial, regardless, when you are talking about firearms there will always be someone who disagrees with you. I’m experienced enough to gauge the controversy level when I’m working on a piece. Anytime you introduce a new topic about hardware or question the status quo, people get their hackles up and the letters to the editor pour in . . ." ...

"The 2012 elections have now entered the homestretch. The candidate debates are ramping up, and politicians all over the country are blanketing the airwaves with lies about their legislative records."

"It’s not a new problem. Remember the now-infamous quote from presidential hopeful Kerry about the Iraq War: 'I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.'"

"Who is the most famous hunter in America? If you’re over 30, the first names that come to mind are probably Sarah Palin, Ted Nugent or Dick Cheney. If you’re under 30, the answer is easier. The most famous hunter in America is Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire founder of Facebook."

"In May 2011 Mr. Zuckerberg made a pledge to consume, for one year, only meat he had hunted or slaughtered himself. He got a hunting license and shot a bison. 'My personal challenge,' he explained, is 'being thankful for the food I have to eat.'"

"Business as usual at the NYPD. It had been almost five weeks since any unarmed citizens had been shot, but New York’s finest remedied that when an officer the New York Post described as being 'from an elite unit' shot an off-duty National Guardsman to death in his car. 'Noel Polanco, 22, had his hands on the steering wheel of his 2012 Honda Fit moments before Detective Hassan Hamdy shot him once in the torso ...' The shooting of another unarmed New Yorker was particularly awkward – not least for Polanco – given the timing as Bloomberg’s Army had just announced earlier in the week that they’d decided to restore the service gun to one of the officers who had gunned down an unarmed Amadou Diallo thirteen years ago . . ." ...

"On October 1st, Philadelphia played host to three firearms-related murders in three hours. The killings raise the city’s gun death toll to 263 homicides. So far this year. While The City of Brotherly Love’s ballistic carnage still lags behind Chicago’s 400 deceased (and counting), you’d think there’d be more outrage. Yes, the local news continues to report the shooting deaths under the well-established principle 'if it bleeds, it leads.' Yes, there are groups bemoaning the problem of 'gun violence.' But, in general, it’s just another day at the office for another major American city ... And there’s no better illustration of this 'all gun violence is local' than the District of Columbia . . ." ...

I mean, just look at the AR-50. I can fit seven bodies in my trunk and that one BARELY let me close the lid! Rep. Steve King (R-IA), however, seems to believe it is a manual for federal firearms policy:"
"King said during a debate last week in Orange City that the original purpose of the Second Amendment was not to assure hunting rights or allow people to provide for self-protection. The purpose was 'to guard against tyranny because our Founding Fathers understood that if we did not have an armed populace, an armed tyrant could take over America,' King said." ...

The Second Amendment is not about hunting or even defending your home from armed intruders, although that is certainly a fringe benefit. The founders of this great nation came here to escape tyranny and religious persecution. So, not surprisingly, the First Amendment to the Constitution is about religious freedom and the Second Amendment, about the defense against tyranny."

We are told that we must allow the massacre of innocent Americans—including children—with easily obtained firearms because 'it is the price we must pay for freedom.' All those who have sworn the Hippocratic Oath to protect their patients should stand resolute against this radical and morally bankrupt idea."
