The JPFO "Innocents Betrayed" documentary was produced in 2003 and shows that the real cost of gun control is the loss of innocent life at the hands of government. Registration and confiscation of firearms was often the first step that lead to genocide over the last 100 years in numerous countries.
Chris Chumita of Buckeye Firearms has written a review which succinctly outlines the strong and important message in this documentary which has changed many gun prohibitionist's minds. "Based on some the comments posted so far, it would appear sending a simple email is too much to ask of many 'activist' gun owners--they'll not only find a reason not to do it, they'll elaborate on how it's a defeated effort from the outset, so why even try?"
"Look--nobody proposing this effort is under any illusions--if anything, we're among the most cynical of the lot. But you tell me it wouldn't have an effect if ten thousand or more pissed off gun owners sent a no-uncertain-terms missive to one official on one day. Then tell me how much more of an impression it would make to flood his inbox with 100,000. Or a million." ...

"Here is my answer to that over-used assertion. First & foremost, which constitutional amendment says 'the right of the people to always feel safe & secure, shall not be infringed'? Secondly, how would they ever KNOW that nobody around them has guns even if they did ban them? So even after an all out ban they still would not achieve their desired dream of 'feeling safe'." ... |

A judge says the Medford School District can forbid English teacher Shirley Katz to carry a gun on school grounds.
Katz sued the district, arguing that its policy against firearms violates a state law that allows people with concealed-weapons permits to carry guns into public buildings.
Katz says she has a right to carry a handgun, as a defense against intruders or her former husband.
But Circuit Court Judge G. Philip Arnold ruled Friday that the Legislature has forbidden local governments from passing ordinances - local laws - to regulate firearms. He says an ordinance is different from a school employment policy, so state law does not prohibit the district's policy. |

The Maryland Senate voted unanimously yesterday to override Gov. Martin O'Malley's veto of a bill that would let police departments dispose of their guns by selling them to a manufacturer.
The bill was approved unanimously this year in both the Senate and the House of Delegates. No one testified against it during a Senate committee hearing. State law requires police departments to either destroy the guns or sell them only to another police agency or an active or retired officer.
O'Malley stated that "police weapons should not be potentially made available outside of the law enforcement community." The House of Delegates would need to get a three-fifths' vote for the General Assembly to override the veto. |
