... "We both know that you are not interested in safer guns. You don't even want to eliminate guns from society. You simply want to be on the side that is armed. And blaming an industry for criminal actions performed mainly in the community that provides your political base is a poorly disguised mechanism to consolidate your power, as well as a transparent and greedy ploy to leech funds from the gun industry."

"And let the ultimate impact on your constituents' unalienable rights be damned."

"I wonder what these constituents would say if they were provided the truth about the racist origins and continued discriminatory application of the gun control measures you promulgate?" ...

"... I just spotted this, which contains a statement too disgusting to leave unchallenged. Most of the article is about the Obama/Biden-inspired spike in firearm ... and ammunition sales. ... go to the last paragraph."
"One expert sees a darker motive driving some post-election gun purchasers."

"'Why are white people buying assault weapons?' said Ben Agger, a sociology professor ... 'I almost hate to say it, but there is a deep-seated fear of the armed black man, because Obama now commands the military and other instruments of the justice system. They are afraid Obama will exact retribution for the very deep-seated legacy of slavery.'

"So now it's racist to buy an AR-15. ..." ...

"Two years ago I wrote a couple of articles describing the composition of the Congress after the mid-term elections and explaining that I didn't expect to see the new Democrat majority making any kind of serious run at gun rights. I caught a lot of flak for those predictions. ..."

"Some might have noticed the fact that none of those things has come to pass. ..."

"I don't bring these things up just to brag about our past prognostication skills or lucky guesses. I bring them up to back up our current predictions and explain the basis of those predictions: All of the dire predictions about sweeping new gun control legislation being rammed through in the first hundred days of an Obama administration are probably overblown. ..." ...

"Last week President-elect Obama's Web site had posted his administration's agenda for curtailing the Second Amendment rights of law abiding Americans, thereby validating the concerns of gun owners, sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts all across the country. Curiously, the Obama-Biden gun control agenda was taken down from the Web site after just two days, according to officials from the National Shooting Sports Foundation."

"President-elect Obama's Web site stated he would make permanent the expired "assault weapons" ban of 1994, a ban on firearms that was based on cosmetic appearance, such as the type of stock on the gun, and not functionality. The expired ban did nothing to reduce crime while it was in place." ...

"Lead, when referring to the element, is a four-letter word in America today. Poison. Health risk. It's inarguably dangerous in various forms. It is also an affordable and wonderful performer ballistically, and the foundation of the ammunition industry."

"You can bet that there will be a day in the relatively near future when lead ammunition will be banned, like it is for waterfowl hunting and for any hunting/shooting in neighborhoods where California Condors feed." ...

"So, as believers in the civil right to bear arms, where do we go now that the most anti-gun president in history takes office in January?"

"To be fair, for us, nothing changes. We simply attack this problem as aggressively as we attacked the Clinton administration and the Republicans who turned their back on us and voted for the ... 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. We stand up and force the elected officials to consider the danger to their future electoral viability if they try to take our guns."

"Our job is to remind them of the Democrats bounced out of office after the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban passed. We need to remind them of Al Gore losing his home state of Tennessee in 2000 due to his willingness to take our guns ..." ...

"The wealthiest animal rights organization in the country, the Humane Society of the United States, is again asking for a nationwide ban on lead-shot ammunition."

"It says the North Dakota Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have preliminary findings that show you will end up with higher levels of lead in your blood if you eat wildlife killed with "lead bullets" than with other types of ammo."

"Please, no laughing just yet. Wait until the end because there's good and bad news in all of this." ...

"Otherwise sensible people seem to completely lose their marbles when it comes to the loaded question of handgun ownership, and what rules ought to apply. I'm not sure why that is."

"The latest example of mass paranoia at work for no discernable reason is a rush to gun shops across the country to buy sidearms. The rationale, or vague impetus, is that with the election of Barack Obama as president, we're heading for the confiscation of our guns, for sure. ..."

"Well, if it's true, why in the world would you go out and buy something the government is going to take away from you anyway? Of course, the idea of confiscating our legally owned and permitted handguns is totally insane ..." ...

KABA Note: What I have heard is not a concern for confiscation, but an AWB style ban on new manufacturing.

"On Monday, November 17, the New Jersey Assembly is scheduled to vote on A2116, legislation banning most firearms over .50 caliber."

"Though previously amended in an attempt to address gun owner concerns, the legislation would still ban virtually all firearms over .50 caliber, including many popular modern day muzzleloaders. A2116 is so poorly drafted that it would even outlaw firearms manufactured during the Revolutionary and Civil War eras and their modern day replicas." ...

"Last week, I watched the Tracy City Council pass a resolution to confiscate weapons from citizens who have domestic disagreements. I don't want to call them 'domestic violence calls,' because many times these calls are merely heresy[sic] on the part of one party or the other."

"It is hard to imagine that our council members are working against the Second Amendment of our Constitution, the right to own firearms. On top of taking the weapons away, the city will put them into a storage facility for safekeeping, and the owner is obligated to pay the rental charge something like $593 per weapon per year until the offense is resolved." ...

"A gun law that sparked a political fight in Allentown and has drawn fire from state politicians is likely to pass quietly tonight in Easton."

"City Council is to vote on a bill that could impose a $1,000 fine or a 90-day jail term on people who don't quickly report their lost or stolen handguns."

"Allentown, Philadelphia and other Pennsylvania cities already have passed versions of the law, which is intended to target straw purchasers ..."

"'It's an extra tool to help fight crime in the city,' said Easton Councilman Jeff Warren, who heads council's public safety committee. 'We're obviously not going to be targeting responsible gun owners. ... We're targeting individuals who have no intention of obeying the law.'" ...

"The NRA is challenging a series of gun control measures that City Council passed in an effort to combat gun violence. Mayor Michael Nutter signed the bills even though the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has previously upheld the state's exclusive right to enact gun laws."

"We're posting an update on the issue of 'No Gun Allowed' signs posted at Ohio Rest Stops in response to the false rumor circulating that the Ohio Department Of Transportation (ODOT) has already agreed to take all the signs down. Ever since this misinformation began going out, we have been getting calls and emails from people reporting that they are still seeing the signs up at some rest areas." ...

"... OFCC began sending out letters to the ODOT District offices ... on September 28 'seeking a comprehensive review of every rest stop, shelter, rest facility, parking facility, etc.' This began our efforts in getting the signs removed. Sadly, ODOT was not as quick to react taking the signs down as they were in putting them up." ...

"Since 2004, more than a dozen deputies have been accused of brandishing or shooting a gun while under the influence of alcohol."

"More than 60 have been arrested this year on alcohol-related charges, most for driving under the influence and most of them armed at the time."

"The deputies' union opposes the restriction. Union leader Steve Remige said it would let criminals know that deputies who had put them away would at times be unarmed."

"Gun sales have skyrocketed since Barack Obama was elected, and many gun owners say they are concerned the nation's next president and a Democratic-controlled Congress will impose a ban on assault rifles and firearm ownership."

"From Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, the FBI reported 374,000 background checks on people purchasing guns a 49 percent jump from last year. Dealers are reporting larger-than-usual sales since Election Day, according to the Chicago Tribune.
