Seventy-two guns were handed to authorities, no questions asked, at a Staten Island gun buyback event on Saturday. The Midland Avenue-based affair was held at the Edward K. Esposito Memorial Community Center. It was sponsored by the NYPD, Richmond County District Attorney’s Office and New York City Police Foundation.

The most dangerous use of a serial number on a firearm is as a registration number. In effect, gun registration is gun confiscation. It was not the intent for which serial numbers were made. They were created to track firearms with production changes and as a way for government arsenals to track the production and military use of weapons.

Municipal government and school officials in Seattle, Washington are talking gun control and a renewed effort to repeal the state’s 37-year-old preemption statute, according to a report in the Seattle Times, in response to a fatal school shooting earlier in the week.

According to the newspaper, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell “called for the state to lift a law prohibiting cities from implementing their own gun policies.”

A man getting his oil changed at a Warner Roberts, Georgia, Walmart ran into woods behind the building after hearing a child scream and held the alleged kidnapper at gunpoint until police arrived.

On Saturday, FOX News reported the incident, which occurred November 6, 2022.

A concealed carry permit holder shot and killed an alleged robber inside Chicago’s El Barakah Supermarket around 6:20 p.m. on Friday night.

ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reports “a man walked into the store and pulled out a gun to start a robbery” and the concealed carrier responded by pulling his own gun and shooting the alleged robber.

At least two more Oregon sheriffs have said they do not intend to enforce Measure 114 if it passes and becomes law. Michelle Duncan, the sheriff of Linn County, announced on the organization’s Facebook page on November 9, the day following Election Day, that she would not enforce the magazine capacity limit.

Kitsap County commissioners are considering an ordinance that will prohibit gun shows at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds at the same time as it adopts changes to state law that restrict where gun owners can carry firearms in county government buildings. The move comes after the city of Bremerton ended the hosting of gun shows at the city-owned Harborside Conference Center earlier this year.

An Italian-owned company will invest $60 million in coastal Georgia to build a plant to make and distribute ammunition, with plans to hire 600 people. Norma Precision will build its facility near the site of the new Hyundai electric vehicle plant in Bryan County, just northwest of the Georgia coastal city of Savannah.

Hunters will take to Michigan’s woods this week for the start of firearm deer season. Firearm deer season is a tradition for hundreds of thousands of Michiganders. But the tradition is undergoing a big change. In the past, the Department of Natural Resources has collected information on the hunt at check stations and voluntary mail surveys. But participation has declined in recent years.
