There was an arrest at a local high school Thursday after a gun was found on the school's campus.
A 17-year-old Fairview High School sophomore was arrested for possessing a high-powered rifle. The gun was found in the student's pickup truck and was loaded. A fellow student reported the incident to authorities. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on a school campus. |

Charges could be filed against a west suburban mother accused of bringing a gun to her child's school. The woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon at Forest Hills Elementary in Western Springs.
Police say her alleged husband called two schools warning them his wife was on the way there with a gun to pick up their children. Officers caught up with her at the elementary school and found the unloaded pistol in her pocket.
Authorities are trying to figure out why she was carrying the gun in the first place.
