"Reagan guns aside, there's apparently one other key impediment to the tranquility that everyone who's ever lived in a monopoly of violence-enforced gun free zone has accepted as the natural order of things: The government just doesn’t have enough power."

... "... the proprietor of AA Army Surplus and a veteran of the 82nd Airborne, Darryl Baxter, was approached by a local cop serving on federal-state-local 'Joint Task Force' to try to set up a person on a STEN gun purchase. He refused. That, plus his acquaintance with me, was enough to stir the wrath of Mordor, and the great eye of Sauron turned its attention to the case of Darryl Baxter."

"In doing so the Feds discovered that Darryl had pled guilty to a state misdemeanor years before, and Darryl was given paperwork reflecting that fact. But when the case was entered into the state data-base it was incorrectly entered as a felony. ..."

"Every time there’s a discussion about gun laws in the United States, someone invariably brings up the old line about how you 'can’t yell fire in a burning building' as the example of a reasonable restriction on rights. But where does that phrase come from? What does it mean? And what’s the appropriate parallel for gun rights in the United States? I’m no lawyer, but having read the applicable case law and possessing a modicum of common sense, I think I finally have a handle on this." ...

"The Associated Press is reporting today that two New Mexico State Police officers are now under investigation for their actions in a controversial traffic stop – the video of which has gone viral – during which there was a confrontation with a woman and her 14-year-old son and one of the officers fired at least three shots at their minivan, with five children on board." ...

"MEANWHILE, today’s installment of the media’s Camelot perpetuation is the on-line release of a report on the John F. "Reports from CBS News indicate that the sick and sometimes fatal 'game' of 'knockout' seems to be growing in popularity and ubiquity:" ...

"This column has covered this abomination before, describing not only the fatal beating in St. Louis of a 72-year-old Vietnamese immigrant--just for 'fun,' but also the failure to bring to justice the perpetrators (a pack of teenage predators estimated to number about 18 or more) of another instance of this sick 'game' in St. Louis ... A bit of good news on that score, though--a suspected perpetrator of that brutal assault managed to bring a very final form of justice down on his own head early this year." ...

"'Obama is the Liar in Chief,' gun rights expert John M. Snyder said here today."

"'The designation Liar in Chief easily can be added to the list of Obama's titles as president,' Snyder added."

"'Practically the whole nation now realizes Obama lied to sell national government health care to the American people,' he said."

"'However,' Snyder noted, 'that's just the latest indication of this president's chronic mendacity.'"

"'There's also the gun lie. Obama said he'd honor the Second Amendment. Then he pushed a restrictive gun control law. The Senate shot him down. Still, it seems Obama promotes some form of gun control, including thinly veiled gun rights denial, every chance he gets.'" ...

3D Guns May Sideline the NRA, But Not Because It's Funded by Gun Makers

"Since 3D-printed guns first emerged on the scene, clearly promising to render gun regulation more irrelevant than a mandatory missionary-position law in a world full of blackout curtains, scribblers phobic about things that go BANG! have found solace in one small hope: At least it'll cripple the National Rifle Association! Their hopes rest on the repeated assertion that the NRA is industry-funded, and DIY-gunmaking will deprive nasty Merchants of Death™ of their customers, so then they won't prop-up their puppet astroturf organization. The NRA may or may not lose relevance with the advance of technology, but it won't be because of bogus assertions that it's a front group for the gun industry, no matter how often the mantra is chanted." ...

"It’s John Moses Browning’s last design. A classic. And suprisingly, a firearm TTAG has not reviewed yet. It’s about time, I thought. The Browning Hi Power was actually designed during the Roaring 20′s as a contender to replace a large number of service pistols the French military had used in WWI, all of them chambered in 7.65mm (.32 ACP), and none with a magazine larger than nine rounds. Browning began work on the design not long after Armistice Day and filed for a patent in 1923. Like his then-recent FN M1922 and the original M1910 (the pistol used to kill Archduke Ferdinand to spark WWI) the Hi-Power prototype was striker fired, but featured a revolutionary double-stack magazine ..." ...

Texas A&M Law Prof: Repeal the Second Amendment

"The Bill of Rights. It’s a document that was designed to set a standard of individual freedom in the United States, one that the American people sacrificed their lives to secure in the 1700s and extend in the 1800s, and ever since the liberal movement has sought to add new freedoms to the growing list. But for some, the idea that a person has a right to defend themselves is repulsive. For those people, like Texas A&M law school professor Mary Margaret Penrose, there are simply too many rights in that document, and it’s high time to start curtailing some of them. Specifically, Mary wants the Second Amendment repealed." ...

"The Second Amendment bars local, state and federal governments from passing any law that seeks to control the keeping or bearing of guns. It bars Rhode Island’s 'blue card' provision, which forces citizens to take a written test and pay a fee to purchase a handgun. It bars Texas’ Concealed Handgun License which mandates an approved course, a test and a fee for residents who want to carry a gun. It bars New York’s SAFE Act, which makes it a crime for citizens to load their handgun with more than seven rounds ... It bars New Jersey’s gun registration laws ... Does supporting the Second Amendment, which bars gun control, make me an insurrectionist? Well one thing is for sure . . ." ...

"There's just no dodging it: In San Francisco, it's damn near impossible to buy a gun."

"That's the case even if the gun in question is a pedigreed antique, suitable only for serious collectors or people with a desire to wave a pistol about in an extremely expensive version of the crazy prospector dance."

"A firearm once owned -- and fired -- by famed Wild West lawman 'Wild' Bill Hickok failed to sell at a San Francisco auction yesterday. The gun Hickok never got to draw when he was gunned down in Deadwood in 1876 didn't move; bidders offered up to $220,000, but that wasn't nearly high enough to scrape the minimum 'reserve price' for a piece valued at up to half a million dollars." ...

Similar proposals were excluded from gun-control bills that passed in California and Connecticut.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962
