"Somehow, there are people who confess they are gun owners, who keep saying that Barack Obama is no threat to the Second Amendment."

"They actually go so far as to say that he has strengthened the Second Amendment during his first term."

"... [H]e HAD to accept the Amendment to the Credit Card Reform bill that allowed carrying of firearms in National Parks. He had the chance to allow guns in parks on its own and he refused. ..."

"Then there are his Supreme Court Judges, specifically Sotomayor who lied to congress about her belief in the Second Amendment only to rule against its definition of an individual right the first time it came up."

"Saturday night’s confrontation at a Seattle mini-mart between a would-be robber with an apparent fake gun and a gutsy clerk with a real one has gone viral since first reported yesterday, but Seattle anti-gunners, including outgoing Mayor Mike McGinn, are noticeably silent."

"That probably would not be the case had the clerk been shot, as that outcome would have been exploited as proof of the need for passage of a 15-page gun control initiative now gathering signatures. Gun prohibitionists are typically tongue-tied when this sort of story pops up." ...

"The Second Amendment Foundation today launched a satirical website poking fun at President Barack Obama’s health care fiasco, warning gun owners, 'Don’t let Obama do to our gun rights what he’s done to our health care.'"

"'With a track record like Barack Obama has on health care,' said SAF founder Alan Gottlieb, 'we don’t want the president getting involved in gun care or firearms safety.'"

"SAF launched ObamaGunCare.com to bring attention to the concerns of gun owners about the president’s support for various forms of gun control during the past year. In a mock advertisement, the website’s message is biting." ...

"This month marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Night of the Broken Glass, or Kristallnacht, the Nazi pogrom against Germany’s Jews in November 1938. Historians have documented everything about it except what made it so easy to attack the defenseless Jews without fear of resistance. Their guns were registered and were easily confiscated in the weeks before the onslaught." ...

... "The aim of the proposal is to track weapons that go missing in transit. According to the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives almost 200,000 firearms went missing or stolen last year. Host Ric Young talks with Professor Joyce Malcolm, Professor of Law and Patrick Henry Chair of Constitutional Law and the Second Amendment at George Mason University near Washington, DC, about why this proposal might not go anywhere and why she thinks tracking stolen and missing guns is not a good idea."

"The saying goes, 'God made men, but Sam Colt made them equal.' Setting aside concerns about gender-specific pronouns ... it’s difficult to think of a situation where this applies more than that of the physically disabled. Stand your ground laws may have put an end to the legal duty to retreat (check your jurisdiction), but some of us lack the simple ability to retreat from a threat. While I have always been a firm believer in avoiding trouble, sometimes trouble finds you, and I cannot for the life of me think of a good reason why self defense should be the sole domain of the able-bodied. I hear a lot of talk about disability rights, but without the right to defend ourselves none of it really means anything . . ." ...

"The number of companies making AR-15 style rifles has exploded in the last couple years. Even some of the bigger names in the industry who had previously avoided the platform are getting in on the action, like Smith & Wesson and Ruger. Now that those companies have an established foothold in the market, it’s only natural that they would want to expand. "'Unless they changed the gun safety rules, which are pretty much the Bible of the gun world – so I’m pretty sure they’re still the same – I don’t see how any of the proposed measures by anti-gunners will aid in the safety of gun use,' Noir says of the 'gun safety placebo' in his latest video after recapping the four foundational rules of gun safety." ...

"The AP this week reported about National Shooting Sports Foundation and Steve Sanetti's consideration of leaving Newtown. One must have sympathy for NSSF's employees. It must be uncomfortable being part of an organization whose major focus is promoting civilian assault weapons (AKA Modern Sporting Rifles) after such a weapon was used in last December's horrendous massacre in their own town. That they expressed feeling 'nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about' calls to mind Upton Sinclair's statement 'It's hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it'." ...

"The Firearms Coalition has provided an alert about the proposed BATFE Obama administration rules. The new regulations would make the application for trusts and companies to obtain federal tax stamps for gun mufflers (silencers, suppressors), short barreled rifles and shotguns, full-auto guns and a few other items, considerably more convoluted. Last week's rule change alters the rules only for presidential appointments, leaving the filibuster in place for legislation--for now." ...
