Our society is changing. We saw crime increase. We saw police and the courts fail. We decided that we need a gun to be safe. That is more than speculations, and almost 14 million of us bought a gun for the first time in 2020 and 2021. The increase in gun ownership will not lead to a significant change in political affiliation.

New gun owners won't vote like old gun owners.

Gun-control groups, and the politicians they support, are doing all they can to take Second Amendment rights away from 18-to-20-year-old citizens. But, to do so, they aren’t making the argument that we should redefine what constitutes a legal adult. That would be much more difficult to enact—and, if successful, it would also disenfranchise young voters. Instead, they simply want to take away this group’s right to keep and bear arms.

Previously, this correspondent wrote an essay on Incrementalism v. “all or nothing”. It was well-received: Roland T. Gunner ~ “Mr. Weingarten, I take my hat off to you. This article is the best thing I have read in modern memory. Now, tell me, how do we get incremental movememt on reppealing the NFA? And for all you naysayers, sit down, shut up, or help us get it done.”

South Carolina's PTR Industries is expanding from its familiar roller-locked gun game and making inroads into being a handgun distributor and suppressor maker. We came across PTR's booth at Cancon earlier this month and got the lowdown on them teaming up the Czech Republic-based Archon (pronounced arK-ahn) Firearms to manufacture and distribute that company's line of pistols in the U.S.

Unfortunately for my bank account, I like all types of handguns. I own numerous semi-autos and shoot them regularly in a bull’s-eye competition. Semi-autos have their place. And so do revolvers. But this isn’t an argument for revolvers: If you’re reading this you probably enjoy them as much as I do. And we all have our favorites. I prefer Smith & Wesson wheelguns, particularly the post-World War II ones, up to about 1990 production.

A federal appeals court upheld an Illinois ban on high-power semi-automatic weapons and large magazine capacities in a Nov. 3 ruling, but the law faces additional legal challenges. “There’s certain rights that we all enjoy that come with limitations,” said Dan Kotowski, leader at OneAim Illinois, an organization that supports the ban.

The New York State Court of Appeals declined to hear Second Amendment challenges in six cases that tried to overturn charges of illegal weapons possession. The challenges came in the wake of last year’s landmark U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which significantly limits what the government can do to restrict guns. The Court of Appeals issued decisions in six gun-related cases: David v. New York, Garcia v. New York, Cabrera v. New York, Rivera v. New York, Pastrana v. New York, and Telfair v. New York.

There’s an old saying that if you hang around a place long enough, they might just give you a job. That has now proven true in the case of gun-control advocates who have closely allied themselves with the Joe Biden administration. They have always had his sympathetic ear and his support for their agenda to end firearm ownership in the United States as we know it. Now, however, Biden has gone a step further and created a special White House bureaucracy to put them on the federal payroll and to leverage the full power of the government to legitimize, amplify and expand their prohibitory ambitions. Worst of all, you will be paying for it.

Our society is changing and those changes have resulted in many of us choosing to buy a firearm. We see crime rising around us. We notice that criminals are no longer routinely caught by police or prosecuted in the courts. The response is entirely predictable.

More thieves than ever are targeting gun owners with elaborate Internet schemes. Fake websites are one of the biggest scams and a painful reminder to slow down, particularly during the holiday season, and double-check before hitting that purchase button when online. Ammo, gear and even firearms are not immune to the growing trend.

My generation was the first to use handheld electronic calculators in school. The calculators we used were awkward, bulky things, with red LED numerals and were powered off of 9 volt batteries. Things changed over the years, though, and electronics shrank in size and consume less power. The calculator my son now uses in his math classes is thin, lightweight and is powered by a solar cell and internal battery.

The lethality of the 5.56 NATO/223 Remington rifle cartridge has been a topic of heated debate since its adoption by the US military during the Vietnam War. When fired from a 20 inch barrel, the terminal performance of the 5.56 is quite impressive, however problems arise when a shorter barrel length is used.

The boys from Texas showed up with their select-fire guns at the Big Sandy Shoot on Oct. 20-21 near Wikieup, Arizona. They camped next to us, and we spent two days shooting, laughing, and getting to know each other. They ran their guns hard and had a great time doing it.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The saddest epitaph which can be carved in memory of a vanished liberty is that it was lost because its possessors failed to stretch forth a saving hand while yet there was time. — JUSTICE GEORGE SUTHERLAND (1938)
