"The Second Amendment Foundation, joined by the National Rifle Association, today filed a lawsuit in federal court against the State of Washington, seeking to overturn a state law that discriminates against legal resident aliens who own firearms by violating their Second Amendment rights under the equal protections affirmed by the 14th Amendment."

"The SAF/NRA suit is joined by three legal resident aliens who face loss of jobs and firearms collections, and possible prosecution for owning a gun for self-defense when their current Alien Firearms Licenses (AFL) expire. Under a statute unique to Washington State, aliens must possess an AFL to legally possess firearms." ...

... "If the principles and law resulting in the Haynes decision are applicable (and why wouldn't they be?), there is one group of people who would be legally immune to the ordinance-- criminals."

"If they're prohibited persons, legally barred from even touching a gun, by definition they're not the legal owners. And requiring them to report that a gun-- which they're not allowed to own-- was lost or taken from them would also require them to admit they had possessed a firearm in violation of the law. In other words, would it not be forcing them to self-incriminate?" ...

"Of all the social issues facing America today, few expose a person's political ideology more definitively than whether someone is anti-gun. That makes Barack Obama's attempt to fool gun owners by painting himself as a defender of the 2nd Amendment easy to see for what it is – someone trying to lie their way to the presidency."

"His claim that he won't work to destroy the right to bear arms also falls flat, not only because of his past record, but on ideological grounds as well. Obama will work to destroy gun rights because his leftist socialist agenda compels him to destroy anything that gives an individual power at the expense of the government." ...

Believe it or not, the elections are having a big impact on gun sales. A local gun shop owner says their hand gun and home self defense sales surged recently due to concern over who will end up running the country. She says if the president and congress don't support gun ownership, people could lose their right to own fire arms.

Yvonne Joseph, Classic Arms Company: "If we get a congress that is predominantly liberal, anti-gun, then there are going to be additional restrictions that invariably would be put into effect."
