"A city official in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, doesn't like the phrase 'God Bless America' on a nine-eleven memorial at a fire station."

"City Manager Roger Haley says it improperly mixes government and religion. He says no one from the city approved the display set up by firefighters. So he ordered it changed to what he says would be more appropriate for public property."

"The memorial at Murfreesboro Fire Station Number Six now consists of a model of the World Trade Center towers and the edited phrase 'Bless America.' "

"One pleasing development in the 2002 deer seasons has been the dramatic decline in the number of hunting-related shooting incidents involving one hunter shooting another hunter in mistake for game, or where the victim was either in the line of fire or struck by a ricochet or stray shot. Of the 10 reported HRSIs, only one was a fatal incident involving a hunter shooting another in mistake for game and one non-fatal incident involving a hunter who shot another hunter who was in the line of fire."

"...As California Deputy Attorney General Tim Rieger noted, gun ownership can be seen as an individual right and still be subject to restriction in the interest of public safety. That's why your next-door neighbor doesn't own an atomic bomb."

"But while Reinhardt is arguing to restrict an individual's powers, he moved along on expanding his own. He turned himself into a lawmaker."

"A day centre has been shut down and security guards drafted in to a health clinic after a man who allegedly threatened staff with a gun escaped from court and went on the run."

-------
So, it's obvious in the UK the law can't control violent criminals - they can't even retain custody of them. They disarm law-abiding citizens, leaving them at the mercy of armed criminals, whom they can't control. Is this what they call "British logic?"

Slamming the revolving door of our criminal justice in the faces of repeat, hard-core criminals will, in fact, do much to stop violent crime. If liberals such as Sen.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. — Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985)
