"The City of Seattle has petitioned the state Supreme Court in an effort to resurrect its city parks gun ban after losing the battle twice to the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and the National Rifle Association, in King County Superior Court and at the State Court of Appeals."

"This column discussed that court ruling in October."

"SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb told this column Thursday that 'If they want to go to that expense, we'll be happy to beat them again. It’s entirely possible that the Supreme Court will decline to review the case, because the Appeals Court panel ruling was unanimous.'" ...

"A new gun company ad compares Obama's stance on gun control to that of Hitler, Stalin and other brutal dictators. The ad by USA Ammo, states that 'tyranny and gun control is only an election away! ...'" ...

"While Williams and USAAmmo make some misinformed statements with regard to President Obama ... and the ad is over the top, the message is important. First, it isn't socialism that is threatening this country, but rather fascism, and Obama's policies are more fascist than socialist. He was, after all, financed by the big banks and is beholden to the military-industrial-complex and the corporate class. That being said, the issue of gun control in the context of America today is of utmost importance." ...

"Every now and then an invention comes along that completely redefines a genre. The iPhone. The microwave oven. Snuggies. John Travolta. The Kel-Tec KSG. While the 14+1 round shotgun doesn’t instantly render current home defense scatterguns obsolete—wait. It does. There’s no getting around it. The KSG has at least three major advantages over any other home defense or tactical shotgun currently on sale to U.S. consumers. For one thing, the Kel-Tec KSG sends a message to all other home defense shotguns: get small or go home . . ." ...

"Charles Daly used to be a well known and well respected name for their line of high quality firearms. The MP22R .22lr bolt action rifle I use to teach new shooters bears their name on the side and is a thing of beauty. About two years ago they disappeared from the U.S. market altogether, much to my dismay. However, today comes some good news that Charles Daly is about to re-enter the U.S. firearms market, bringing with them some new handguns and 'modern sporting rifles' that they’ll show off at SHOT 2012. "When it became clear in the early fall of 2008 that Barack Obama, son of a Kansan and a Kenyan, would be the 44th President of the United States, many citizens rushed to their gun shops, stocked up on ammo and camo, and tried to fortify their nests with all manner of lethal weapons."

"Though he had said nothing about gun control in the campaign, Obama, to a certain kind of person, appeared to be a grave threat to the Second Amendment ..." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: Yes, he did "appear" to be a threat to gun rights. To "a certain kind of person" his actions as a legislator:

  • Opposed bill okaying illegal gun use in home invasions.
  • Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws.
  • FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban.
  • April 2008: "Bittergate" labeled Obama elitist.
  • Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok.
  • Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing.
  • 2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month.
  • Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities.
  • Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality.
  • Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban.
  • Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions.
  • Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
  • Voted YES on Kennedy amendment that would have banned most rifle ammunition.
  • Did not sign amicus brief supporting the individual rights view in Heller v. DC
  • Voted to ban gun stores within 5 miles of a school or park which would have eliminated most gun stores in America
  • Supported new 'improved' "assault weapons" ban
  • Supported legislation to "close the gun show loophole" which would have imprisoned show organizers if a single person at a show offered a gun for sale privately.

spoke more to his feeling on the Second Amendment than any self-serving statements made on the campaign trail.

"Gun laws are always ripe for debate in this country, but there should be no argument that those selling weapons simply must comply with existing statutes — and that background checks are essential to public safety." ...
