"There's someone out there telling folks to buy guns illegally, and I think it's time we put a stop to it. He's directing contract employees to walk into gun stores, lie on the paperwork about who's buying the gun, and walk out after making a straw purchase."

"Even worse, he's bragging about what he's doing. He's holding press conferences to tell the world about what he's done, but so far law enforcement doesn't seem to be listening."

"Well, I think it's time we help out the ATF agents that enforce our nation's gun laws. We need to call their Illegal Gun Hotline at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (that's 1-800-283-4867) and alert them to this illegal firearms activity. ... and you want them to enforce the law." ...

"A vote to make Rep. Nancy Pelosi the speaker of the House is a vote against the Second Amendment, says a gun owners' lobby."

"Gun Owners of America is asking its supporters to what they can to prevent a "committed supporter of gun confiscation" from ascending to the top leadership post."

"'The real vote for killing gun control will occur on January 4, 2007,' GOA said in a news release."

"GOA said it is telling each and every House member -- including newly elected Democrats who supposedly support gun rights -- that it will count a vote for Pelosi as speaker as an 'anti-gun' vote."

"GOA describes Pelosi as an 'avowed socialist' who has an 'F-minus' rating on Second Amendment issues from Gun Owners of America." ...

"The biggest strength of Ohioans For Concealed Carry has always been the efforts of our grassroots members. The ability to mobilize that base to contact their legislators has been crucial for gun rights reform in Ohio. Similar actions have been widely credited with the waves of reform which have swept the country in recent years."

"Now, incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly making overtures to curb that sort of grassroots activism by establishing 'lobbying reform' to impose strict new regulations on such displays of free speech." ...

"Those who are surprised by Smith & Wesson's recent introduction of the Model M&P15 line of 5.56mm (.223 Remington) AR15 rifles are probably unaware that the company has actually been in the 'black rifle' business several times before ... The 'M&P' designation in these new rifles stands for 'Military & Police,' ..."

FULL TEXT BELOW:

A 13-year-old Sparks boy was arrested for bringing to school a handgun and ammunition that he allegedly took from a relative's vehicle, authorities said.

A classmate at Swope Middle School saw the boy playing with bullets during class and notified a counselor through the school's Secret Witness program, Washoe County School District spokesman Steve Mulvenon said.

Mulvenon said the ammunition didn't fit the pistol and the boy told the principal he didn't intend to use the weapon he kept in his locker.

The youth was booked Wednesday into the Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

He could face expulsion, Mulvenon said.

"Mayor Scott W. Lang is asking the city's legislative delegation to push for a statewide ban on the sale of military-style weapons - including the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle used by a gunman last week to kill two employees and himself at the Foxy Lady SouthCoast."

"'I'd like our local delegation to sponsor a bill that takes that type of weapon out of civilian hands ... any type of military weapon,' he said. 'This is not an appropriate weapon for a civilian to have.'" ...
-------

Submitter's Note: So he wants to ban AR-15s and clones, AKs and clones, 1911s and clones, 9mms, .38 and .45 revolvers (GI in WWI), the 45/70, 30.06, .308 . . .

"One more shot."

"The Henry County supervisors take up a shotgun range ordinance today for what, presumably, will be the final time."

"The supervisors tried to close the range debate two weeks ago with a third and final reading that would have put a new ordinance on the books."

"But lingering questions about how far shooters should be from adjacent homes forced the supervisors back to the table."

"The supervisors are now scheduled to vote on the ordinance at 9:30 a.m. today. Recent history suggests there will be plenty of comments from residents with a stake in the issue." ...

"In a newspaper advertisement on Thursday, the Detectives' Endowment Association said 'while it is important to acknowledge the tragic events ... it is equally important to separate fact from fiction and set the record straight.' Similar radio spots will run through Friday ..."

"Union officials have insisted that the officers who killed Sean Bell and wounded two of his friends were convinced one of them had a gun, though none was ever found. ..." ...

"Later, after the relatives and neighbours protested, Delhi Police found that the encounter was fake and it was done to avenge the death of a policeman's brother. Nine policemen were dismissed."

"Now, the chargesheet in the case filed by the Crime Branch reveals it was a contract killing executed by policemen. "Changes made by Ohio's General Assembly to the state concealed-carry law won't impact any local municipalities, but law-abiding gun owners will benefit."

"The most publicized provision of House Bill 347, which amended Ohio's concealed-carry law and will take effect in March if there are no successful legal challenges, overrides municipal gun restrictions. But the nearest community which had one of those is the city of Toledo."

"Gov. Bob Taft had vetoed the bill because of this change, but revisions to the law enjoyed wide support in the General Assembly. The House overrode the governor's veto by a 71-21 margin while the Senate voted, 21-12, to override." ...

"In your paper's recent series on pistol licensing, although the list of licensed handgun owners may be public information, you made it much easier to access their names and addresses. Due to the content of your paper's editorials over the years, it is no secret that you frown on those who choose to exercise a portion of the Bill of Rights, and that you wish to make it more difficult for them to do so through your anti-gun advocacy."

"For example, characterizing the The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence as 'a nonpartisan group' is simply disingenuous at best, and untruthful at its core. They are at the vanguard of restrictive laws designed for an end goal of firearm-prohibition in the U.S. by reducing the number of peaceable gun owners." ...

"The Ithaca victims of a burglary of a dozen guns, including assault weapons, sniper rifles and various other deadly weapons from their home were 'astonished' and 're-victimized' when one of the thieves (apparently known to the 'victims') was given a sentence of mere probation ('Ithaca man gets probation in gun case; victims incensed,' Dec. 7)."

"I, too, am astonished - not because justice does not seem to have been served, but at the fact that a private home in this small upstate city where I live has been housing over a dozen weapons whose main purpose is killing people. Mind you, not hunting or sporting guns, but guns intended for snuffing out human life. I cannot but wonder why these dangerous weapons were not under solid lock and key, why they were in our city anyway, and how these young, impressionable burglars became familiar with the existence of this stash in the first place." ...

"In the middle of Joshua Bush's forehead, two inches above his eyes, lies the evidence that prosecutors say could send the teenager to prison for attempted murder: a 9 mm bullet, lodged just under the skin."

"Prosecutors say it will prove that Bush, 17, tried to kill the owner of a used-car lot after a robbery in July. And they have obtained a search warrant to extract the slug."

"But Bush and his lawyer are fighting the removal, in a legal and medical oddity that raises questions about patient privacy and how far the government can go to solve crimes without running afoul of the constitutional protection against unreasonable searches and seizures." ...

"During the wake at the Batasan for Abra Rep. Luis Bersamin Jr. Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. mentioned the need for stricter gun control. Some observers nodded in agreement."

"A gunman had shot the congressman twice to the head, killing him instantly ... Had Bersamin been stabbed to death, de Venecia might probably have called for stricter 'knife control.'"

"The truth is that existing regulations on the possession and carrying of firearms in this country are strict enough. Unlike gun buyers in, say, some American states, the prospective buyer of a pistol, shotgun or rifle from an authorized dealer in the Philippines needs to wait at least one month´┐Żoften, much longer´┐Żto gain possession of the weapon he has already paid for upfront." ...
