... "The smart money says this is a cynical ruse, and that imposing the new controls will benefit those in a position to create and capitalize on a lucrative new black market -- that is, those in power. If that happens, look for the predictable results prohibition traditionally yields, including a dramatic rise in firearms-related homicides, especially as more (and more dangerous) operators decide to claim and vie for turf." ...

"The perennial gun-control debate in America did not begin here. The same arguments for and against were made in the 1920s in the chaos of Germany’s Weimar Republic, which opted for gun registration. Law-abiding persons complied with the law, but the Communists and Nazis committing acts of political violence did not."

"In 1931, Weimar authorities discovered plans for a Nazi takeover in which Jews would be denied food and persons refusing to surrender their guns within 24 hours would be executed. They were written by Werner Best, a future Gestapo official. In reaction to such threats, the government authorized the registration of all firearms and the confiscation thereof, if required for 'public safety.' ..." ...

"Former ATF Agent John Dodson was one of the chief whistleblowers on Operation Fast and Furious, a covert program that channeled over 2000 U.S. gun store guns to Mexican drug thugs. ... Dodson’s cashing-in on his insider knowledge of Fast and Furious with a new book The Unarmed Truth. Americans looking for the unvarnished truth about the stingless ATF sting should look away now. The excerpt published in The New York Post offer no new insights into the extra-legal activities of an Obama administration agency gone rogue. In fact, it reveals Dodson as a mindless minion of a program whose rationale remains hidden by an Attorney General who remains in power, despite a citation for contempt of Congress. "Growing up the child of parents who relocated to this glorious country from Vietnam, life as a second generation immigrant was a lesson in learning cultural differences, acceptance, and being accepted. My family, like many that come to America, started off as outcasts within our own community. We struggled to find neighbors that understood why we didn’t put out candy on Halloween night, friends that wouldn’t hate us for not knowing to bring gifts to a baby shower, and peers that believed in the same family values we hold so dear. After a few years, we learned of these new customs and were able to establish long lasting friendships and niche within our community . . ." ...

"This is not the trickiest trick shot Ms. Weiss has performed for her increasingly numerous and devoted fans. The 2012 NRA Women’s Champion Shooter is about ten yards from those eight soda cans. She’s shooting target loads from a recoil-reduced Lone Star Arms SAIGA-12 shotgun. The sequence demonstrates KJW’s astounding ability to pick up a gun, any gun, take its measure and rock it like Roomful of Blues. More than that, it’s proof of the 26-year-old’s courage. It’s racist, classist disenfranchisement, pure and simple. ... He possesses the authority of the state and with it, a far more relaxed standard for using gross and disproportionate violence against a citizen.
