During the holiday season, New York City's subway system has become the stage for one of the most controversial legal battles of the year, with the trial of Daniel Penny at the forefront of public discussion. This trial stems from the tragic events of May 2023, when Penny, a 26-year-old former Marine and architecture student, fatally choked Jordan Neely, a 30-year-old homeless man, during a subway ride. The incident, captured on video and widely disseminated across social media, sparked outrage, protests, and political debates across the nation. |

This legislation, introduced during a lame-duck session, targets what it calls “deceptively colored firearms,” proposing severe restrictions on firearm appearance. The bill’s implications could ripple through Second Amendment debates nationwide. |

Police are now working to unravel the cryptic words found on shell casings at the scene—”deny,” “defend,” and “depose”—which may point to the shooter’s motive. |

Doctor Timothy W. Wheeler and six fellow ear surgeons recently submitted a proposal to their national specialist society, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS).
The seven ear doctors wanted their academy to support their new policy endorsing firearm suppressors for hearing protection.
The docs had tried it before but failed. Some of their members called them “gun nuts.” However, the seven coauthors are a powerful group – ear, nose and throat surgeons with more than a century of combined practice experience. |

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has filed an amicus brief with the Washington State Supreme Court in the case of State of Washington v. Gator’s Custom Guns, Inc., challenging the state’s ban on so-called “large-capacity” magazines and legal action against a firearms retailer. The case is part of a broader legal battle over Washington’s 2022 law prohibiting magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds.
Washington State’s magazine ban, enacted in 2022, restricts the sale and possession of magazines exceeding a ten-round capacity. |

As long as the United States Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms, people across all 50 states will be buying up handguns and rifles. This is even more likely when you consider that Americans represent more than 46% of all civilian-owned guns worldwide. In other words, you can be sure that weapons sales are only likely to increase. |

During this week’s commissioners court meeting, Precinct 4 Commissioner Dexter McCoy advocated for a proposal that would encourage state lawmakers to ban firearms and weapons in libraries.
"Why is it that we can protect ourselves here in commissioners court as able-bodied adults, but our children cannot be protected in our libraries," he asked during the meeting.

While stopping in at Beretta's renowned campus at Gardone Val Trompia, near Milan, Italy, Guns.com had the privilege of meeting with the company's in-house master engravers.
In a world that has increasingly adopted flat and soulless laser engraving and etching for firearms, it is refreshing to see that the "old ways" are still cherished and Beretta, a family-run company with roots going back to the 1500s, is definitely old-world. |

With the end of the year nearing, the Michigan Senate signed off on a flurry of bills Thursday, including proposals that would ban guns inside the Capitol building, institute licensing standards for tobacco retailers and remove criminal penalties for adultery.
The votes came with only seven more scheduled session days remaining until the end of the 2023-2024 term. In January, Republicans will take control of the Michigan House, meaning Democrats will lose their complete hold on power in Lansing.
At one point Thursday, Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, criticized majority Democrats' priorities, contending they were "making licensure requirements for cigarettes" while "making it easier to bust up your marriage." |

A downstate federal judge’s ruling against Illinois’ assault weapons ban is being put on hold.
A federal appeals court in Chicago ruled Thursday that the ban can stay in place while the state contests last month’s ruling by U.S. District Judge Stephen McGlynn, who found that the statewide ban violates the Second Amendment.
It is the second time the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has determined that the law can remain on the books as Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office battles several gun rights groups over the legality of the weapons ban. |

In a world where platforms promise freedom but deliver censorship, Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) is at a crossroads. X prides itself on being the bastion of free speech—a sanctuary for open discourse in a landscape increasingly dominated by cancel culture.
Yet, its own advertising policy remains shackled by hypocrisy: gun ads are outright banned.
This is a call to action for Elon Musk and X to truly embody the principles of free speech and respect for the Second Amendment. |

Ohio Ordnance Works is the only company making a faithful reproduction of the Browning Automatic Rifle, marketed as the 1918-A3 SLR. The HCAR is based on the same BAR receiver design and accepts standard BAR-pattern magazines, but there are a lot of modern updates on this .30-06 chambered rifle.
The original BAR is a long, heavy rifle that dates back over 100 years. The HCAR is a lightened, more manageable upgrade to its original inspiration. To keep the rifle light, the original 24-inch barrel has been trimmed to 16 inches and features a simple style of fluting. The BAR-pattern receiver also has a series of lightening cuts. |

The Liberal government has outlawed another 324 firearm varieties — guns it says belong on the battlefield, not in the hands of hunters or sport shooters.
The move follows the May 2020 ban of 1,500 makes and models of firearms, including the AR-15 and Ruger Mini-14. The number grew to more than 2,000 by November of this year as new variants were identified.
The federal prohibition of hundreds more was announced Thursday after expressions of concern from gun-control advocates that many assault-style firearms were not covered by the 2020 ban. |

"These firearms can no longer be legally used, sold or imported in Canada," Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc told reporters.
The announcement comes one day before the 35th anniversary of the massacre at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Radio-Canada first reported the news earlier Thursday. |
