"The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today congratulated the Ohio House of Representatives for their courageous 71-21 vote to override the veto of concealed carry reform legislation by Gov. Bob Taft."

"CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron immediately urged Buckeye State gun owners to start calling their state senators to let them know the time has come to reform the state's complicated carry statute."

"'Ohioans have been living with a concealed carry law that has not made much sense since it took effect,' Waldron said, 'but it was a step in the right direction. The current legislation is another big leap ... The House has taken a responsible course, and now it is up to the State Senate ..." ...

"The District of Columbia is using a different tactic to defend its ban on carrying guns."

"Attorneys told a federal appeals court today that the Second Amendment protecting the right to bear arms applies only to militias and not to individuals packing heat."

"D-C's solicitor general told a three-judge panel today that the Second Amendment should be interpreted on military terms."

"But at least one judge challenged that position. Judge Laurence Silberman said that view didn't even come up until the middle of the 20th century."

"But he joined another judge in questioning whether the right to bear arms is even needed if a 'well-regulated militia' from colonial times is no longer needed." ...

Submitter's Note: And since we have TV and the internet, newspapers are 'no longer needed' so we can get rid of the first amendment, right?

"HB 347, sponsored by Representative Jim Aslanides (R-94), would create statewide preemption ensuring that firearms laws are uniform throughout the state.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
You are bound to meet misfortune if you are unarmed because, among other reasons, people despise you....There is simply no comparison between a man who is armed and one who is not. It is unreasonable to expect that an armed man should obey one who is unarmed, or that an unarmed man should remain safe and secure when his servants are armed. In the latter case, there will be suspicion on the one hand and contempt on the other, making cooperation impossible. — Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince."
