"When snipers were killing people during October 2002 in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area, Nicki Fellenzer’s coworkers sometimes asked her to accompany them on errands outside their office building in Vienna."

"'They know that I carry a gun,' said Fellenzer, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon with her at all times."

"Fellenzer, 34, keeps a holstered .40-caliber, Glock 23 pistol in her purse." ...

"Last week, Fellenzer got those belonging to her and spread them out on the kitchen table, while her 8-year-old son, Daniel, stood beside her."

"Fellenzer said she doesn’t worry about having guns in the house because she and her husband have taught Daniel and their daughters, Sarah, 10, and Anna, 16, about gun safety." ...

"When law enforcement officers think about what might happen if Utah allows anyone 18 or older to carry a loaded weapon in a car, they cringe."

"They imagine drive-by shootings, road rage ending with shots fired and police officers or children being put in harm's way."

"But Sen. Mark Madsen, R-Lehi, doesn't anticipate such mayhem if his bill, which eliminates the need for a concealed weapons permit to carry a loaded weapon in a vehicle, passes the Legislature."

"In Utah, law enforcement and the rights of individuals to bear arms are both generally held in high regard. Madsen's bill has the potential to affect every community in the state, along with countless tourists and commercial drivers who travel the state's roads." ...

"The jury will not hear evidence of the victim's specific acts of bizarre behavior or aggression he made in the past, ruled the judge."

"In 2004, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius vetoed a bill that would have allowed Kansans to carry concealed guns. If she would have signed it, we would have joined 46 other states that threaten criminals from robbing random people. The funny thing is, I haven't felt less safe one single time since she did this."

"Actually, I've felt safer than if it had passed. I would hate having to constantly wonder what was in the pocket of the person I just met. As long as it is illegal in Kansas, even if they are concealing a weapon, as long as we're in a public place, I know that they will at least be hesitant to pull it out. Well, either that or I will really have to piss someone off." ...

"Mr Tattersdale was cleared of all charges after a jury at Knutsford Crown Court heard he had acted to protect his home from two brothers - Lee and Rick Mason - who had been drinking all day. ..." ...

"After the hearing Mr Tattersdale, a divorced father-of two, said he had gone into hiding for fear of reprisals."

"A proposal that would allow workers to leave guns in their cars at the workplace stalled Wednesday in a House committee."

"The House Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on the bill (HB 129) because members said it needed more work."

"The National Rifle Association backs the proposal, noting that gun owners lose their Second Amendment rights when they are prohibited from leaving a legal gun in a locked vehicle at work. The group estimates more than 6 million gun owners live in Florida."

"Rep. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, introduced the House version in an attempt to ensure employees can carry guns to protect themselves on the way to and from work." ...

"The measure says people are justified in using deadly force if someone illegally breaks into their home or vehicle, or to prevent death or 'great bodily harm' to themselves or another person."

"Supporters described it as a 'stand and defend' measure, something that would help Kansans remain safe. Critics said no one has shown any need to rewrite existing Kansas laws on self-defense." ...

"A bill that would loosen the state's restrictions on the use of deadly force ran into opposition from the Attorney General's Office and law enforcement yesterday." ...

"The bill would repeal a state law that requires a person to retreat from attack when possible and would bar civil suits against someone who legally used deadly force."

"Associate Attorney General Ann Rice urged the Criminal Justice Committee to reject the bill, saying it 'dramatically alters the law on self-defense.' The bill sets out a broad presumption that the use of deadly force is justified in almost any case, she said, and would tie the hands of police. Restrictions the bill is meant to repeal don't exist in the first place, she said." ...

"Opponents say the bill is not needed because the law already recognizes the right to self-defense. And they fear the bill could lead to more innocent people being shot." ...

"So today Greg from MSI and I were roaming the halls of the House of Delegates collecting co-sponsor signatures for a bill that would force MD to offer reciprocal agreements to the CCW permits of other states (essentially meaning that your VA or PA or other state’s permit would be honored here), when I stumbled upon a Baltimore Police uppity-up in his dress blues; upon closer examination I realized it was Commissioner Hamm! "No one knows exactly how many waterfowl, wading birds and other kinds of avians have died accidentally from lead poisoning linked to hunters' ammunition loads, but over the years the toll has been substantial, experts say. Doomed birds have perished from lead exposure but not as a result of being struck by gunshot. Rather, they succumb from ingesting beebees that gather on the bottoms of ponds, lakes, marshes and in the fields where sportsmen and women hunt."
