"Proponents of the bill claim that:"

"* There's no reason why anyone would want to buy guns in multiples."

"* Limiting handgun purchases will reduce crime, especially in areas where gang-related crime is up."

"* Handguns are the weapon of choice for young people." ...

Other outdoor writers across the nation did the same. Now, I see a small sign that the most powerful lobby in America is starting to get it." ...

"The tragic massacre that occurred Monday at the Trolley Square mall in Salt Lake City has impacted our entire community. My condolences go out to all of the victims ... The off-duty Ogden police officer, as well as other officers who later responded, who put their lives on the line to stop this madman, deserve our love and support for their selfless actions."

"But had there been another selfless hero present that night who was ready and willing to defend the lives of others with their lawfully concealed weapon, there may be fewer victims today. One can only hope that the anti-gun lobby doesn't turn this incident into a further catastrophe by vehemently calling for more gun control ..."

"If Castle Doctrine 'only changes things for the bad guy,' a reasonable person would support it, so why is Brady complaining? They attack officers of every rank in the militia and in the army; they attack judges, governors, and magistrates of every denomination; they attack assemblies and councils, members of Congress, and Congress itself, whenever they dislike their conduct..."

"...consider the constitution of the militia. The militia is, in fact, the whole people; for, by the laws of every State, every man from sixteen to sixty years of age belongs to the militia--is obliged to be armed, to train . . . The officers are chosen by the men . . . It is this very militia which forms the body of voters who annually choose the members of the assembly and the senators and governors..."

"As the outdoor columnist with a weekly column about sportsmen and sportsmanship, your section on guns and the sportsman was very poorly written and damaging to the sportsman/shooters' cause.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. — JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821)
