Every now and then, a rifle stops you cold, and this one did exactly that. While visiting a shop recently, I spotted what may be the prettiest Marlin 1894 I’ve ever laid eyes on. It wasn’t even clear if it was for sale. A few words later, it was — and now it lives in my shop.

In the wake of ICE fatally shooting Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, I’m struck by right-wing politicians backpedaling on their gung-ho gun messaging.
Pretti was a licensed concealed-carry holder and didn’t commit violence, didn’t threaten armed agents and didn’t appear to draw his firearm at any point in his fatal interaction with agents.

One of the hardest positions for any Republican administration to fill is director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). ATF has numerous law-enforcement functions, many of which are relatively non controversial. For example it runs a sophisticated lab in Maryland for testing and studying arson.

With suppressors exploding in popularity after new legislation regarding the NFA, Rugged moved to fill a need in the market. While there is a plethora of 9mm cans, and Rugged is well known for their Obsidian line, the company wanted to make a suppressor specifically for 9mm PCCs, lever, and sub guns.

Virtually half of Canada—several provinces and two territories—are saying “No” to the federal government’s multi-million-dollar buyback scheme, with the National Post reporting this week that the government of Newfoundland is also refusing to participate. |
