This news story is the follow-up to an article I forwarded a few months ago, the Idaho man whom faced a five year felony "hate-crime" sentence for calling his wife's attacker the "N-word"(1).

Justice in America nolonger applies equally.

Moving to solidify his conservative credentials and continue building momentum for a campaign that has been surging in recent weeks, Republican gubernatorial hopeful William Simon Jr. said Tuesday he had won the endorsement of the Gun Owners of California.

Simon, making the announcement near Fresno Yosemite International Airport, portrayed himself as a strong advocate of gun rights. "We have more than enough gun laws and we need to let the dust settle [to let those laws work]," he said.

A recent string of armed robberies in Calhoun County suggests one or more thieves may be targeting motorists who venture out at night.

Local law enforcement agencies have some advice on how to avoid being a victim.

“We have no indicators that this child is violent or that he’s going to target anyone,” [Sgt. D.J.] Alvarez.

“GISD has been alerted by the Galveston Police Department that a former student left his home last evening, is heavily armed and has left behind a threatening suicide note,” said [Supt. Henry] Boening in email [to schools].

"To me, if this is the war on drugs, they missed their target, but they scored a direct hit on the Constitution," said Mark Silverstein, legal director of the ACLU of Colorado. "They had no search warrant, no arrest warrant and no other legal authority.

"This is the most blatant disregard of the Fourth Amendment that I've seen since I've been here at the ACLU," Silverstein said.

58 year old John Lambert, of Spalding, Lancashire, has been released on bail following two days of arrest after the death of one of two burglars who had broken into his home and put a knife to the throat of his wife, according to press reports.

During a struggle to defend himself and his wife Mr. Lambert killed the burglar with his own knife. Rather than suffering the indignity of arrest and police inquiries Mr Lambert should be hailed as a hero and public benefactor.

The extensive collection including museum pieces and ready-to-fire machine guns have been placed in control of William Bloomquist's lawyer.

Bloomquist, a licensed gun dealer, is free to resume making a living through the sale of those firearms. Bloomquist said he was holding some of the guns for friends and relatives, and he will be able to return them.

People who have tried heroin and cocaine or have a drunken driving conviction are no longer automatically disqualified from becoming Virginia state troopers.

"It's the right thing to do in some situations," said Lt. Col. Donald R. Martin, the agency's deputy superintendent.

"I think it would lower the standards," one officer said. "You got to be real careful when you start dealing with hard drugs."

KABA NOTE: And what about "lowering the standards" and not imprisoning *citizens* because of the same "crimes" then? Or are they going to get a choice - jail or a state trooper job (like they used to do for the armed forces)?

More straight talk on Concealed Carry...

FOURTH LETTER ON PAGE

"A Feb. 8 letter said that 'a concealed carry law in Minnesota would put 50,000 more guns on the street.'

This a scare tactic only, as she failed to say where this came from. Most gun owners who would apply already own. Felons could never get a permit, so it is law abiding citizens who would. The training would make gun ownership safer..."

The group commended the Chicago Tribune and Philadelphia Inquirer for recently changing their policies to reject classified gun ads.

KABA NOTE: Sounds like it's time for a boycott of those newspapers and their major advertisers.

The federal government will ask the Supreme Court of Canada today to give Cabinet absolute power to conceal its documents -- and to place such decisions beyond the scrutiny of any judge.

The government will face a challenge from its own staff lawyers who are seeking a landmark ruling that would give the public access to information about why ministers made certain decisions.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (42B.C)
