A federal judge in North Carolina will allow plaintiffs in a case challenging a suspension of pistol purchase permit applications last year to move ahead in pursuit of damage claims and associated claims for declaratory relief and attorney’s fees, according to the Second Amendment Foundation.

The case involved a county sheriff’s decision to suspend accepting PPP applications after Gov. Roy Cooper declared an emergency. It was not a rare incident, as other jurisdictions also suspended taking applications for concealed carry permits and licenses. In some municipalities, the suspension is still in effect nearly a year after an emergency was declared.

The 2021 fight for Constitutional Carry in the Volunteer State begins today. Your NRA-ILA is working hard with pro-gun lawmakers and Governor Bill Lee to pass House Bill 786 /Senate Bill 765, legislation that will expand self-defense options for law-abiding citizens. Sometimes called permitless carry, Constitutional Carry would ensure that no honest, hard-working Tennessean is ever left defenseless while waiting for government permission or wading through red-tape.

I attended a gun show this weekend. Normally, my social activities aren't worthy of note, but this one is because the show spoke so perfectly to who we really are as Americans — and we are not the racist, hate-filled, stupid killers of leftist caricatures. To set the stage, I need to go back to the early 1980s, when a longtime friend of mine confessed to me that he was gay. I wasn't surprised, having figured out the truth years before. I then told him my greatest fear about his being gay, which was that I would lose him to the gay lifestyle. I predicated that he would soon define himself by his sexuality rather than by his interests, skills, and values.

What a loaded question in the year 2021. Due to the perfect storm combination of a pandemic, civil unrest, and election uncertainty, 2020 was a record-breaking year for gun and ammo sales. Not only did the already established tens of millions of gun owners buy more guns and ammo, but over eight million first-time gun buyers joined our ranks. For many millions of Americans the reality that they are on their own, with nobody coming to help them in time, finally set in. Those of us who have been invested in our own self-protection for a long time are bewildered that it took such a year to wake many people up, but here we are.

Armed citizens were credited with limiting fatalities in a shooting in Louisiana on Saturday that left three people dead, including the suspect, according to authorities.

The outburst, at a gun store and range just down the road from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, also left two people wounded, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

Submitter's note: This quickly fell out of the news. I can't find any details today about who shot who. Apparently armed citizens stopping a mass shooting doesn't fit the narrative so is buried.

House Bill 534, as amended in House Draft 1, clarifies when the use of force for self-defense is justified. It states that citizens may defend themselves, their “legally occupied dwelling or motor vehicle,” and other people against assailants, and that there is no duty to retreat under those circumstances when they occupy premises in which they have a legal right to be and are not engaged in unlawful activity. In addition, it provides immunity from civil action for lawful use of force. Victims of violent crime shouldn’t be subjected to unnecessary civil suits, thereby being victimized twice.

On 11 February 2021, there was a bond hearing for Kyle Rittenhouse, conducted on Zoom, over the Internet, by Judge Bruce E. Schroeder. The hearing was requested by the District Attorney Office, represented by DA Thomas Binger. Those opposing Kyle Rittenhouse had characterized Kyle as dangerous and a white supremacist. There has not been any evidence presented to support this claim, other than claiming the OK hand sign is used by white supremacists. DA Binger appeared to be echoing those claims..

The National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action applauds a decision by the Washington Court of Appeals today that upheld the state's preemption law and struck down a pair of local ordinances that restricted the right of law-abiding gun owners. "Hopefully jurisdictions like Edmonds will realize that violating the Washington State Constitution is neither legal nor in the best interest of personal protection."

For well more than a century, it’s safe to say wildlife and the wild places it inhabits have benefited because of hunters—and, by extension, NRA members. That last part is not a stretch. Next to self-defense hunting is one of the primary ways Americans exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Indeed, across the expanse of the 19th century, hunting was perhaps the primary way Americans exercised that right while our society stretched coast-to-coast and in large part fed itself off game.

The talking points for gun control and “common-sense gun laws” are all the rage these days, especially with the new administration in Washington. For those of you who are lucky enough to live in what I call “free states,” what’s being proposed by the government seems ludicrous. But I don’t live in a free state, I live in New York State (Not New York City, but “Upstate” New York).

Caught on camera - a bold thief steals a gun from a man open-carrying at a gas station. The crime happened in January, but Detroit police has just released the video of the incident hoping to get the gun and the perpetrator - off the streets.

Detroit police say the thief has been arrested and linked to other crimes including a non-fatal shooting.

A surveillance camera at the BP at Seven Mile and Wyoming captured the perp in a red Nike hoodie walking up behind a 53-year-old man open carrying a pistol.

He yanks it from the holster, points it at the victim, and takes off running with a second man who appears to be a partner in crime.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The gun-control movement is driven by raw emotion. Facts are irrelevant. Logic is spurned. Utter nonsense is solemnly intoned. It's little wonder that our most emotive president has made gun control his signature domestic issue. — Don Feder
