RMGO: NRA OK's Strategy to Force Pro-Gun Senators to Support Assault Weapons Ban, Gun Show InstaChecks

"The NRA and Frist will quietly pressure pro-gun senators to vote for these amendments –- complete with an extension of the Assault Weapons gun ban and the McCain language to eliminate gun shows." ...

"The gig is up -- the NRA has crossed the line. The Assault Weapons ban is the most important piece of legislation to ever face gun owners, and they are playing games with it, all for a bill that will have only limited effect on manufacturers of firearms."

"The gun liability bill is a big priority for the NRA and the Senate leadership." ...

"The NRA's strategy is to risk the permanent ban of all military style 'assault weapons' so that they can pass a liability protection bill of dubious merit."

"Starting on Wednesday, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to begin debate on S. 659, the gun makers' protection bill. This bill would attempt to end the dozens of frivolous lawsuits that have been launched against gun makers, in an attempt to put them out of business (or force them to adopt gun restrictions on the firearms they sell)." ...

"Anti-gun Senators like Dianne Feinstein and John McCain are lining up to offer anti-gun amendments to this bill -- provisions that would extend the Clinton ban on semi-automatic firearms or impose restrictions at gun shows."

"This is the Big One."

"I don't want anyone to have any illusions. This is the watershed moment of this generation, and it is here and it is now. Although their fruit will not be entirely seen for some time, the seeds of the trees of Liberty or Tyranny will be planted in the next few days."

"If the AWB dies, it will be a significant victory in the ongoing battle between those who would disarm the People, and those who preserve the People's ultimate contingency."

"Make no mistake: THE AWB MUST DIE."

"The Second Amendment is about nothing less than preserving the People's means and ability to make war if the circumstances indicate it is necessary and just to do so."

"I can't believe that with 31 Americans being murdered with guns every day we would put assault weapons back on the streets. So many families have been torn apart by these weapons of war. Our police officers, routinely outgunned ten years ago, will suffer the consequences of inaction. This will be an all out fight to renew the assault weapons ban..."

-------
It is unbelievable the lies this fascist sow will tell to promote her agenda! 31 Americans are NOT being murdered every day with guns. About 2 percent of criminals carry so-called "assault" weapons. Nationally, “assault weapons” were used in 1.4% of crimes involving firearms and 0.25% of all violent crime before the enactment of any national or state “assault weapons” ban.

Misguided metropolitan mayors mouthing moronic maledictions...

"We do not advocate suing manufacturers in all instances when an incident involving a gun causes harm or injury. But shouldn't we be able to sue manufacturers and suppliers when they act with wanton disregard for the safety of our neighborhoods?"

"By immunizing gun manufacturers against civil liability, the bill would remove much of their legal incentive to behave responsibly. It would encourage bad manufacturers to remain bad and good manufacturers to become lax."

"Federally required background checks disqualified about 11,000 people from buying guns in Louisiana between 2000 and 2002, but the state still ranks in the top third of states exporting guns used in crimes nationally, according to a study released by Americans for Gun Safety."

"Criminals and gun traffickers who are prohibited from purchasing firearms at gun stores are using what the group describes as the gun-show loophole to fuel the market with guns, the group claims."

" 'Felons, children and terrorists can get guns at gun shows now without questions,' said Deborah Barron with Americans for Gun Safety." ...

How do these liars expect to get away with this drek?

Federally licensed gun dealers must follow sales regulations regardless of where they are making the sale, and this includes gun shows. Less than ONE PERCENT of criminals get their guns at gun shows.

"It already costs a few hundred dollars to get everything you need – processing fees, safety course, etc. – to be able to own a pistol. A German social worker pocketed more than $163,800 in public funds intended for homeless people and war refugees and bought himself a brand new BMW with the money, a court said Tuesday.

The 39-year-old Berlin man was convicted of embezzlement and received a two-year suspended jail sentence. He was also told to repay the money.

"He wasn't exactly adhering to the Robin Hood principle," said a court spokesman, referring to the medieval legend who robbed the rich to give to the poor.

The defendant told Bild newspaper it had been easy for him to channel funds to his own account because he had clearance to issue individual payments of up to $1,890.

"It was an enormous temptation, just a computer click away," he told the newspaper.

"If we look at the Maryland police officers who have died during the period 1988 through 2003 ...we have a total of 19 deaths. One was from stabbing, one from stabbing until incapacitation then the officer's handgun was used to finish him off, one assaulted with an automobile and 16 were straight shootings. Of wounds from these 16 shooting deaths 12 were from handguns, 3 from ordinary shotguns and one from a rifle. According to the Post 1 in 20 criteria, handguns should be banned, shotguns should be banned and rifles should be banned by Maryland."

"...they need to explain why they would leave some firearms, handguns say, in the hands of the people which are involved in more officer deaths than the ones they recommend banning."

"One year ago, I went to work in the morning, just to make a few copies and prepare some papers for an upcoming meeting. The door to the building is locked off-hours, but I had card access. I swiped my ID and waited for the door to shut behind me, knowing that there had been recent problems with theft in the building. I unlocked the office door, made the copies, and, since there were fewer distractions, decided to do some other school work. I had been working a while, maybe an hour or so, when I became aware of the sound of breathing behind me. A man was standing there, watching me type on the laptop. He had been there for quite some time. For the most part, he looked pretty ordinary -- not at all bad looking, though a little scruffy from not shaving that morning. He was wearing jeans and a blue sweater. I didn’t have time to fully turn around before my vision grew fuzzy. His hands were around my neck, squeezing and twisting. I remember thinking that his hands were really large as I went into automatic defense mode to get out of his hold. I whirled around to face him, and to leave the room, only to see another man closing the door behind him." ...

This article is in response to The Chronicle's View on Feb. 19 that stated that the U should continue its ban on guns. First, I would like to talk about the intellectual myth of the 'safe school zone.' The only thing that makes this campus and this society, for that mater, a safe place is the ability of individuals to control themselves. Do all those who are freaking out about guns on campus live in fear at the mall or even at the Salt Lake City Public Library, where guns are allowed? I think not. Academic freedom is not a magical characteristic of a university but rather a right of free speech in a free society, a right that was protected as Malcolm X showed by carrying guns. Why were laws passed that made it illegal for African Americans to own guns? Answer: to prevent them from voicing their intellectual opinions."

The Government was accused today of opening up a "dangerous loophole" allowing British arms manufacturers to sell to some of the most dangerous and repressive regimes in the world.

A report by the charity Oxfam warned that the defence industry was taking advantage of a relaxation in the controls on the export of weapons components, to get round international arms embargoes.

It said that parts made in the UK were reaching countries such as Zimbabwe, Israel, Indonesia, Uganda, Nepal, Colombia and the Philippines, even though the selling of complete weapons systems to these countries has been banned.

Once abroad the components, ranging from gun barrels to guidance systems, could easily assembled into completed systems.
