Old Trooper sent this photo from a link at Weekly Standard which says that the White House released this photo this morning. Is it just me, or is that a LOT of smoke coming out of the muzzle? And Ive never seen a barrel ported that far back, or in that direction and the smoke coming out of the port doesnt seem to correspond to the smoke coming out of the muzzle. He seems to be shooting a little low for a target that should be in the air, like a bird, not on the ground like Punxsutawney Phil.

It is becoming increasingly clear that anti-gun advocates, media personalities, and politicians are completely immune to the laws they insist the rest of must abide by, at least in the District of Columbia.

While average citizens and veterans who have served our nation with distinction see their lives ruined, prosecutors repeatedly turn a blind eye when the person breaking the law is espousing an anti-gun agenda.

It all started with David Gregory. Despite being warned by the Capitol Police that he could not possess a normal-capacity magazine inside the District of Columbia, he did so anyway.

OOOOH! Submitter's comment: What did he do -- put smoke pellets from his Lionel train set down the barrel? There's obviously no recoil happening. It sure looks like a posed photo, or Photoshop. And I don't think Vladimir Putin has anything to worry about in the heroic portrait competition.

Could this be the end of "Pennsylvania Crossfire"?
The long-running current events show, which airs on RCN, Service Electric and Blue Ridge cable stations, may have taped its last episode because of a dispute over guns.
According to show producer John Brinson, a camera operator complained when guest Manny Kapelsohn, an Upper Macungie Township attorney and firearms instructor, brought two pistols and a semiautomatic rifle to the RCN studio in Bath on Thursday.
The guns were meant to illustrate a discussion of gun rights in the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Conn., and the Obama administration's proposals to ban certain types of rifles, armor-piercing bullets and high-capacity magazines.

A former Navy Seal who went on to write a bestselling book chronicling his life as the US's most prolific marksman has been shot dead at a gun range in Texas.
Police said Sunday that the body of Chris Kyle was found by officers responding to an incident at the Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose the previous evening. Chad Littlefield, a 35-year-old friend of the war veteran and author, was also killed at the scene.
In a statement, Sergeant Lonny Haschel said Eddie Ray Routh, 25, of Lancaster, had been charged with two counts of murder in relation to the double shooting. The alleged gunman was found at his home just hours after the shooting, having earlier fled the gun range in a pick-up truck, it is claimed.

The author and former Navy SEAL who was one of two men slain at a Texas gun range was the defendant in a defamation lawsuit by former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura.
Ventura sued "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle in federal court in Minnesota over a portion of the book that claims Kyle decked Ventura in a 2006 bar fight over unpatriotic remarks he claimed Ventura made. Ventura, who's also an ex-SEAL, says the punch never happened.
Kyle's Minneapolis attorney, John Borger, says he's "shocked and terribly saddened" by Kyle's death. But he tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press ( http://bit.ly/VxpqAw) it's "way too early" to determine how it will affect the lawsuit.

A 25-year-old man was charged with murder in the deaths of former Navy SEAL and American Sniper author Chris Kyle and another man at a Texas gun range, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Sunday.
Sgt. Lonny Haschel said in a news release that 25-year-old Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster was arraigned Saturday evening on two counts of capital murder.
Haschel said Erath County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a shooting at the Rough Creek Lodge, west of Glen Rose, at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Police found the bodies of Kyle, 38, and Chad Littlefield, 35, at the shooting range. Glen Rose is about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

The answer is no. Pasadena Pawn and Gun, a gun retailer and pawnshop 15 miles south of Baltimore, is pretty much sold out of Americas most wanted gun, the AR15-style semiautomatic rifle. Since the massacre in Newtown, CT., in December, the AR-15, the military-style weapon that the police say was used in the shootings, has been selling fast here and across the nation.

Before Newtown, the rifles sold for about $1,100, on average. Now some retailers charge twice that. At Pasadena Pawn, on the wall behind glass counters of handguns, are three dozen or so AR-15-style rifles. Dangling from nearly every one is a tag that says Sold.

A 25-year-old Iraq war veteran charged with murdering former Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle and his friend turned a gun onto the pair while they were at a Texas shooting range, authorities said Sunday.
Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster was arraigned early Sunday in the deaths of Kyle, 38, and Chad Littlefield, 35, at a shooting range at Rough Creek Lodge, about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth. ...
Capt. Jason Upshaw with the Erath County Sheriff's Office said Routh used a semi-automatic handgun, which authorities later found at his home. Upshaw said ballistics tests weren't complete Sunday, but authorities believe it was the gun used in the shootings. Upshaw declined to give any more details about the gun.

Lost amidst the clamor for universal back ground checks are a lot of important details. One of those details, besides the issues of who will pay for universal background checks, and how will such checks be precluded from turning into a registration scheme, is the fact that simply making firearm background checks universal would have to effect of denying the right of 18-20 year olds to own a handgun, even in their home.

So how in the heck would the introduction of universal background checks strip 18-21 20 year olds of their constitutional right to own a handgun in their home? Thats easy because believe it or not, the Gun Control Act of 1968 requires 18-20 year olds to buy handguns privately.

Police used a stun gun to arrest a man armed with knives outside Buckingham Palace on Sunday as throngs of tourists gathered to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony there.
Scotland Yard said the man, thought to be in his 50s, was spotted carrying two knives outside the central gate of the London tourist landmark. He did not threaten other people at the scene, but when challenged by police he acted aggressively.
Officers used the stun gun on him and took him to a London police station, Scotland Yard said. No one was injured.

Former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and his neighbor Chad Littlefield took former Marine Eddie Ray Routh to a Texas gun range to help him, but for some reason Routh allegedly turned his gun on his two mentors, killing them both, police said today.
ABC News affiliate WFAA-TV in Dallas reported that investigators said Routh, 25, was recovering from post traumatic stress disorder, but police today said they could not confirm that.
Routh, a corporal in the Marines from June 2006 to January 2010, was deployed to Iraq in 2007 and Haiti in 2010, according to the Pentagon. His current duty status is listed as reserve.

A former Navy Seal, expert sniper and best-selling author was reportedly gunned down at a Texas shooting range Saturday by a veteran who is recovering from post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Ex-Navy Seal Chris Kyle, 39, and another man were shot point-blank around 3:30 p.m. at a charity event on behalf of Kyle's security firm at the gun range at Rough Creek Lodge and Resort in Erath County.
The suspect, 25-year-old Eddie Ray Routh, was arrested roughly five hours later in Lancaster, Texas after a police chase. He was driving Kyle's truck at the time of the arrest, police said.

Hes full of skeet! Gun owners lampooned President Obama as Elmer Fudd yesterday after the White House released a photo in the middle of a fierce national firearms debate of the commander-in-chief shooting clay targets at Camp David over the summer. While the presidents shooting skills were being mocked, his own gun-control allies privately fretted that Obama risked being ridiculed as a phony for suddenly trying to portray himself as a friend of sportsmen and hunters. Or, conversely, that he was glorifying the use of guns.

Decorated Iraq war veteran Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author, was shot and killed at Central Texas gun range on Saturday. Here's the legacy he leaves behind:
NAVY RECORD
Kyle enlisted in the Navy in February 1999 and was discharged on November 2009, military records show. During that time, he served four tours in Iraq received 14 different awards and decorations, including two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
"I didn't do it for the money or the awards. I did it because I felt like it was something that needed to be done and it was honorable. I loved the guys," Kyle told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 2012.

Is the U.S. government getting ready for a war we dont know about?
And, if thats why Washington is stockpiling massive amounts of ammunition (hollow points, by the way), why is Homeland Security doing the buying instead of the Defense Department?
I have some theories.
Many of you will remember a story I broke a long time ago about presidential candidate Barack Obamas little-noticed announcement that, if elected in 2008, he wanted to create a civilian national security force as big, as strong and as well-funded as the Defense Department.

Two people were killed Saturday at a gun range in Erath County. Three sources tell News 8 that one of the victims was Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and author of the New York Times bestselling book, American Sniper.

Kyle was shot point-blank while helping another soldier who is recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome, News 8 learned.

An alert was issued for the suspect, who was reportedly captured in Lancaster, south of Dallas. The suspect was believed to be highly trained with military experience.

The ongoing debate on how to prevent gun violence in New York while not infringing on the rights of residents is headed to an Ontario County committee. At its Feb. 5 meeting, the Ontario County Government Operations and Improved Methods Committee will consider a resolution written by Seneca Supervisor John Sheppard that opposes the enactment of the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013 and calls upon the New York State Legislature and Gov. Andrew Cuomo to rescind the legislation. Enacted last month, the law governs ownership of assault-style, semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines and requires background checks for ammunition purchases, among other provisions.
