"I have a dream!"
"A dream where instead of reading about a cute college coed left dead and naked out in a vacant lot or bloated and floating in a river, the story reads, 'dead jack ass found double-tapped and dead on the curb as his soul wings its way to hell, all because he messed with the wrong mama.'"

"There are some odd posts being made on gun forums these days. For example, 'its people like you that will hand the white house to a commi democrat, who will select the next supreme court justice member....and they will destroy the 2nd...' This, apparently an attempt to convince us to vote for McCain, that great protector of the 2nd Amendment. Here's another: 'The jack booted feds will roll you (and me) up like an old carpet. If you think you can resist then you will join the ranks of the Branch Davidians and the martyrs of Ruby Ridge. All the good sheeple will fall in line or die.' This is supposedly what will happen if Obama or Hillary gets elected."

"In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed piece, Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe urged the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the District of Columbia's gun restrictions ... Conceding that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to possess firearms, Tribe said that right does not rule out a decision to ban handguns while allowing 'rifles, shotguns and other weapons less likely to augment urban violence.'"

"We recently witnessed, yet again, another case of firearm violence with the shooting deaths of five people on the [NIU] campus. One of the most surprising things in the aftermath was an almost complete lack of discussion on the topic of gun control. ..." ...
"The arguments against handgun control are familiar, old and tired: we need handguns to protect ourselves ...; the constitution guarantees our right to have them; arming the population lowers the crime rate. However, statistically, there is no validity to any of these and the constitution does not ensure people access to handguns. The rare occasions when handguns actually do protect safety — and this seldom happens — are far outweighed by deaths caused by them." ... -------

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
We'll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily - given the political realities - very modest. We'll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal. — Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc., New Yorker Magazine, June 26, 1976, pg. 53 |
