House Speaker Mac McCutcheon sent a letter to the Alabama Sheriffs Association (ASA) voicing his support for passage of the lifetime carry permit bill (HB 39) in this years legislative session.

All of the ideas proposed over the last several years have come together in this piece of legislation. The time has come to put to rest all of the problems with the present system and bring uniformity to the state by passing HB 39 this legislative session, noted Speaker McCutcheon.

Gun rights supporters are suing Connecticut officials over part of a 2013 state gun control law passed after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, saying it unconstitutionally bans people from loading more than 10 rounds of ammunition into their firearms.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court cites the Second Amendment right to bear arms and the ability of people to better defend themselves with more bullets in their guns.

Earlier this month, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was asked how he justified his push for more stringent gun control when he is guarded by an armed security detail.

Bloombergs response? He is a wealthy businessman and politician who faces threats that normal Americans do not, so its just fine for him to pay others to protect him with guns that hed put the rest of us in prison for possessing.

A Bedford High School student said that he was suspended for wearing a sweatshirt displaying an image of a shotgun. Anthony Burtscher, a junior, said that a teacher, along with an assistant principal told him that the sweatshirt was promoting violence.

Gov. Kevin Stitt signed House Bill 2597 into law last year as an amendment to the Self Defense Act. How does that change impact business owners?

HB 2597 generally removes the requirement that Oklahoma residents must obtain a permit in order to carry a firearm. Taking the inherent risk of having firearms on-site into account, business owners should review their firearms policy for their premises. The decision whether to allow firearms on a business premises remains in the business owners discretion with one key exception: parking lots and garages. Firearms stored in locked vehicles must be allowed in areas where employees and other members of the public normally park.

The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit in Connecticut, challenging that states seven-year-old ban on so-called high capacity magazines, contending that the prohibition only punishes honest gun owners and hasnt prevented any crimes.

SAF is joined by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League on behalf of two private citizens, Susan Ross and Domenic Basile. They are represented by New York attorney David Jensen.

For Jeff Koonss latest sculpture, the artist has used an unusual material: Guns. And not just any guns, but the gun collection of two-time Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn.

About six years ago, Sean informed me that he wanted to decommission his gun collection, and asked if I would have any interest in creating an artwork out of his guns, Koons wrote in an Instagram post that unveiled the finished work, titled Uli. I told him, Absolutely.

Minnesota Senate Republicans Tuesday pushed a package of bills they say would make communities safer. The measures would encourage Minneapolis and St. Paul to hire more police officers and add police to light rail trains but would not expand background checks for gun purchases or set up a procedure for removing guns from those deemed a threat, as House Democrats have proposed.

The Georgia General Assembly accomplishes plenty in its scant 40 days of work each year. Most session days proceed at an easy, albeit deliberate, pace despite the workload.

The opening gavel drops at 10 a.m., followed by prayers and proclamations. Bills are read into the record. Procedural measures are addressed. A friendly debate or two follows. Legislators then break for lunch, or sometimes for the day.

There are a few exceptions and today is one of them.

A new group is forming in Pine County. Pine County For the Second Amendment is a group of county residents looking to make Pine County a sanctuary county for second amendment rights. Eight Minnesota counties have already passed resolutions declaring themselves a sanctuary against any new gun legislation. The Kanabec County Board recently voted in a resolution declaring themselves a Second Amendment dedicated county.

Supporters say Senate Bill 1384 would create a first line of defense to make schools safer.

Opponents say the bill would increase the risk of a tragedy.

The Senate State Affairs Committee could weigh in Friday.

Senators took no action Wednesday on SB 1384, which would allow school employees with enhanced concealed weapons permits to carry firearms in school. The committee hearing will continue Friday, and a vote could follow.

Its simply not right to force our school employees to act as human shields, said Sen. Todd Lakey, R-Nampa, SB 1384s sponsor.

After a January Second Amendment rally on Town Square, some gun rights advocates have begun calling for firearm protections in Teton County. The storm is approaching from the east and the west, Bob Culver of the Jackson Hole Tea Party said, addressing commissioners in March. It will get here.

The Wyoming Senate defeated House Bill 118, the so-called Second Amendment Preservation Act, on third reading on Wednesday, March 11 despite more senators voting for the bill than those who voted against it.

The Senate initially passed the bill on a third reading vote of 16-11, but the a motion to reconsider was called for. After that motion passed, the Senate voted again.

The final vote was 15-14 with one senator excused. Senate District 04 Senator Tara Nethercott changed her vote to vote against the bill upon reconsideration.
