"What should also be a hurdle is the fact that Schakowsky is married to convicted felon Robert Creamer, who 'pleaded guilty to defrauding banks out of 2.3 million dollars in a check-kiting scheme along with violations of federal tax laws.' That would make him a person prohibited by law from owning a handgun, an 'assault weapon' or any kind of gun at all." ...

"In our last post on former astronaut and professional husband Mark Kelly, we remained unconvinced that the gun control advocate bought an AR-15 to show how easy it is to buy an AR-15 (as claimed). Since then, we published a cropped photo of Mr. Kelly’s wife Gabrielle Giffords cradling an AR-15. Yesterday, the former Congresswoman and spree killer survivor turned gun control advocate published a non-cropped version of the original image, a bonus image and an 'explanation' for the event on Facebook. ... Team Giffords is going with we never wanted to ban AR-15s only “more strongly regulate them.” So Ms. Giffords joins her husband in our estimation: she’s a hypocrite, coward and “secret” gun lover. If she wrote this . . ." ...

"I love me some Tiger McKee. thetacticalwire.com‘s go-to gun guy forgot more about gun fighting than I can remember. I think. I’m sure Tiger’s got an excellent explanation for why a gun owner would want to hold a full ammunition magazine between their pinky and the next-over finger (I bet Tiger knows what that finger’s called). But I feel obliged to point out that neither you nor I are Tiger McKee. We are not high-speed, low-drag operators. We do not spend more time on the range than Jessica-Jane Clement spends on hair and makeup. So, for us, keeping it simple means keeping it real means staying alive. Maybe. Anyway, with apologies to Mr. McKee, here are my top three training basics . . ." ...

"Where were we? Oh, right: World War II was over and it was time for the world’s armies to adopt some self-loading rifles already. The Soviets had whole-heartedly subscribed to the theory of the assault rifle with the AK-47. For some reason, they were also churning out the SKS, an odd weapon that seemingly was meant to combine the disadvantages of assault rifles and full-power battle rifles in one ugly package. The SKS isn’t terribly relevant to our story, although forty-five years later the rifle would become available for $79 in the United States and cause all sorts of havoc, both real and perceived . . ." ...

A recent Washington Post/ABC News poll released earlier this week found that 91% of Americans support background checks." ...

"Like visits from Haley’s Comet, the ACLU and I generally agree on something once every 75 years or so. Their latest campaign, though, looking at the increasing militarization of police departments is one of those rare events. What’s somewhat ironic about this is that the ACLU is usually considered a left-leaning organization and many members hail from the liberal side of the political spectrum. That said, it seems that the quiet Rambofication of our nation’s police departments can no longer continue under the radar . . ." ...

"'There are, in increasingly frightening numbers, cells of angry men in the United States preparing for combat,' warns an unusually strident house editorial by the Los Angeles Times. "They are usually heavily armed, blinded by an intractable hatred, often motivated by religious zeal.'"

That description was not applied to the masked, armor-clad Berserkers who kick down doors in the early morning or late at night and terrorize families over non-violent 'offenses.' ... The Times didn't direct that rhetorical salvo at the people who are openly discussing plans to fill America's skies with robot planes that can -- and will -- be used as weapons platforms." ...

"We’ve been saying it since the Sandy Hook slaughter unleashed a tsunami of civilian disarmament: gun grabbing pols are paying lip service to the democratic process. More specifically, all the post-Newtown 'hearings' on gun control are little more than cover for politicians hell bent on wiping their feet on Americans' Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Occasionally, the gun grabbers' mask of fairness slips, as it did last night. Minnie Gonzalez, D-Hartford, ... said she felt he was threatening her and other lawmakers . . ." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution. [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822)
