"On March 16, the New Jersey Attorney General filed its final lower court response in the recently-filed lawsuit challenging New Jersey’s extreme and subjective handgun carry laws."

"As in its previous papers, the Attorney General again trashed the Second Amendment, arguing that the right to bear arms does not apply outside the home, and that New Jersey’s carry laws are constitutional and necessary to protect the public from those who legally carry firearms." ...

... "... Here’s the last column I wrote about the sorry fabrication and subsequent hole-digging by Rachel Stewart of the Taranaki Daily News (and her editor ... While I thought I’d pretty much wrung that exchange…uh…dry, a new development merits taking a sober look at Ms. Stewart’s state of mind while she was arguing how misunderstood she was by those of us who were at the time. Sober."

"'It has been three weeks today since a drop of liquor has crossed my lips,' she writes in her Feb. 21 offering titled 'This dry run gives me a clearer view of life.'" ...

... "If anything, the bias appears to be getting worse. As the November elections appear to have resulted in a temporary reprieve from new federal legislative infringements, and as many states are moving to relax gun restrictions, hysteria from our supposed 'government watchdogs' is becoming more shrill. Here are a few recent examples:" ...

... "While the reasons for their inability to captivate their audience are many, one of the primary factors involved in their fall from grace is profoundly simple--hypocrisy. In one high-profile example after another, prominent gun control advocates are caught preaching about the limitations that should be imposed on the law-abiding, general public's right to own and carry guns while being called out in embarrassing public revelations where they are found to be personally practicing that which they are condemning. ..." ...

... "But in keeping with the president’s longstanding approach, he was silent about the deeply relevant racial justice questions at the center of the gun debate. Who are those most affected by gun violence? Poor, young blacks in the inner city. Gun violence is twice as prevalent in cities as it is in the suburbs. According to the Department of Justice, 'Most violent gun crime, especially homicide, occurs in cities and urban communities.' And, unsurprisingly, these guns are acquired illegally." ...

"So I was having my semi-daily chin wag with Fearless Leader today, and talk turned to handgun safeties. RF mentioned he’d seen the Kimber Solo up close and personal, and mentioned that it’s safety was a lot easier to operate (in both directions) than that of the new Ruger. I opined that, IMHO, the Springfield XD has the ideal combination of a grip safety and trigger safety. Why that configuration? Well, that leads me to an admission: despite my ability to put shots on target down range, I have one Achilles Heel: I frequently forget to flip off the friggin’ safety." ...

"Karl has had two guns ready for you to evaluate now for more than a couple of weeks. Just waiting to hear from you so that we can put them in your hands. Primarily, you should be testing and evaluating the Combat NCO, but if you want to also do likewise with the Close Quarter Battle Pistol, then we have that available for you too. We are quite anxious for you to get this underway, as the last words on the street in The Truth About Guns produced quite a bit of negativity without evaluation. ..." ...

"George Washington famously once said 'A free people ought to be armed.' In America, weapons have always been a strong part of the culture — we associate them with freedom, personal independence and self-reliance. During wars, we've depended on the latest innovations to give us an edge against our enemies, hoping to minimize casualties on our side. Only a select few of them, however, have drastically altered the manners in which wars are fought, populations are controlled and foreign policy is handled. The following weapons sent shock waves around the world when they were created — some literally — and, to varying degrees, have altered the course of humanity." ...

"Also known as the Colt Cloverleaf, the Colt House Pistol was a small 4-shot single-action revolver chambered for .41 short/long rimfire. The image above is a typical example."

"Available with 1.5" and 3" barrels, this gun was designed to fill the same role as a derringer: small personal protection, but with greater ammunition capacity. The frame looks like bronze; there were nickel-plated versions available. The blued versions, and the models with the short barrel, carry a high premium." ...

"At a sparsely attended rally at the Capitol today -- the number of folks behind the podium whose lives had been affected by gun violence far outnumbered the audience -- Mauser was one of several featured speakers who denounced the failure of the current background check system to catch 'prohibited persons' who seek to purchase guns illegally. The gathering was part of the Fix Gun Checks Tour, a multistate campaign launched by Mayors Against Illegal Guns in the wake of the Tucson shootings." ...

"Dear President Obama,"

"I read your recent editorial calling for 'agreement on gun reforms,' assuming that 'almost all gun owners in America are highly responsible.' I did so with a barrel of salt next to my desk. During the campaign, you derided my fellow firearms owners for clinging to 'their guns and their bibles.' It is also highly disingenuous that the same man in charge of enforcing the present firearms laws—which permitted hundreds of guns to flow into criminal hands via 'Project Gunwalker'—is now advocating for 'consensus' to 'prevent future bloodshed.' ..." ...
