Infowars has obtained a document from the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness that lists banal bodily activities such as yawning, staring and goose pumps as “suspicious activity” indicative of terrorism.
The document (PDF), entitled Terrorism Awareness and Prevention, is presented as a guide for both “residents and workers of New Jersey,” along with employees of federal, state and local agencies, on how to “assist in combating terrorism” by identifying “unusual or suspicious activities and behaviors.” |

Together with Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh I hailed the inclusion of microstamping in the Assembly budget proposal passed on March 12. Microstamping would replace the existing, less effective Combined Ballistic Identification System (CoBIS), which the Governor has proposed to eliminate in his Executive Budget. Microstamping allows law enforcement to trace firearms through shell casings found at crime scenes, even if the crime gun is never found. In passing microstamping, the Assembly heeded the call of gun violence victims and their families, anti-crime advocates, and law enforcement who have called for microstamping to be enacted in the budget due to be completed by the end of the month. |

Anti-gun legislators from New York City for the fourth year continue to seek passage of firearms microstamping legislation. While there are currently bills in both chambers, the most pressing issue is the inclusion of microstamping in the Assembly budget AB 9055C (Part B). We need every firearms retailer, gun owner and sportsman to contact members of the Public Protection/Criminal Justice/Judiciary budget committee. Another meeting will occur on Monday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m. If microstamping remains in the state budget, it would result in an outright ban of firearms in the Empire State. |

Attorneys for the Brady Center and the NRA (National Rifle Association) will face off in a first-in-the-nation case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver, Colorado Monday, March 19. The case, Peterson v. Garcia, will decide whether the Constitution allows Colorado to protect public safety by continuing its policy of regulating who can carry loaded and concealable guns in public. Senior Judge Walker D. Miller of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado dismissed the original case on March 8, 2011.The gun lobby then appealed to the 10th Circuit. |

Breitbart.com has uncovered video from 1995 of then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder announcing a public campaign to "really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."
Holder was addressing the Woman's National Democratic Club. In his remarks, broadcast by CSPAN 2, he explained that he intended to use anti-smoking campaigns as his model to "change the hearts and minds of people in Washington, DC" about guns.
"What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that's not cool, that it's not acceptable, it's not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we changed our attitudes about cigarettes."

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly is seeking a plea deal on misdemeanor charges following his January citation for attempting to bring a loaded gun onto a plane in Ontario Airport.
Donnelly claimed that he forgot he had the loaded 45 Colt Mark IV handgun in his carryon before entering TSA screening on Jan. 4. He later told reporters that he carried the weapon in self defense following death threats he received for his active support in overturning the Dream act, and his outspoken views on ending illegal immigration. |

Arguments are scheduled Monday afternoon before a three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a case involving Washington resident Gray Peterson. A federal judge last year tossed out Peterson's lawsuit filed against Denver and the state's Department of Public Safety. Peterson claims that being denied a concealed weapons permit because he's not a Colorado resident violates his Second Amendment rights to bear firearms.
According to gun rights groups, Colorado is one of 23 states, plus the District of Columbia to not honor a concealed weapons permit from Washington state. |

A great example of this tactic is the battle over the second amendment. For over 150 years all Americans understood the second amendment as an individual right to keep and bear arms. The left’s great distaste for this right is well known, but the 2nd amendment seems fairly clear on this point. Undaunted, for years the left asserted, contrary to all historic understanding, that this “right” belonged not to the individual, but to a group. In this case “A well regulated Militia.” They attempted to make a result of the right, the right itself. |

The pickup truck drivers' father came around the truck and got into a physical altercation with Blythe, Samson said.
"And he is being choked to the ground, almost unconscious by the way the story's being relayed to me," Samson said.
Then, the shooter told police he pulled the trigger, firing a single bullet into Blythe's head, ending a few minutes of pure chaos.

Some Missouri lawmakers want to protect gun owners from any threat of workplace discrimination, just as state residents currently are protected for race, religion and gender.
Legislation that would make it illegal for employers to discriminate against people because they own or use guns overwhelmingly passed the Missouri House before lawmakers left for spring break.
For bill sponsor Wanda Brown, a Republican from Lincoln, the goal is simple: "We would never consider giving up our First Amendment (free speech) rights for a job. Why should we give up our Second Amendment rights?" |

However, one issue whose absence among the top issues I find curious is that of gun control. I don’t know how to partake in this because guns and their control are not so big of an issue in the side of the world where I grew up; simply put, guns are illegal and individuals have no authority to hold guns — it is highly punishable. That said, that side of the world isn’t a better place just because of that; there are security run-ins and incidents that threaten public safety beyond imagination. |

The website of the national American Civil Liberties Union says that “neither the possession of guns nor the regulation of guns raises a civil liberties issue.” But each affiliate has latitude in choosing its cases, and ACLU chapters in several states, including Louisiana, have sided with gun owners.
In a news release issued Feb. 14, the ACLU of Pennsylvania announced that it had filed a federal suit against Philadelphia “on behalf of Mark Fiorino, a gun rights advocate who legally carries an unconcealed weapon in public.”

On March 5, the Colorado State Supreme Court struck down a gun ban for all University of Colorado campuses, overriding a 1994 policy instituted by the Board of Regents. The ruling allows anyone over the age of 21 with a permit to carry a concealed weapon onto any CU campus, including UCCS.
“The position of the supreme court was that [the CU Regents] were operating above the law,” James Manley of the Mountain State Legal Foundation, who fought CU’s ban, told The Denver Post.
The court found that the university’s policy was in violation of the Concealed Carry Act (CCA), which the state legislation passed in 2003. |

Last year the FBI got more than 16.3 million inquires for background checks on potential gun buyers, according to a story in the McClatchy Newspaper service. That’s up from the 12.7 million checks in 2008 and 11.4 million in 2007.
Overall, though, concealed permit requests are down in Wyoming.
Counting renewals and new requests, Wyoming issued 5,678 concealed firearms permits in 2010 compared to the 3,737 last year. |

In her ideal scenario, “you are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun I think you should go to prison.”
But in the midst of all Rosie’s anti-gun rhetoric she failed to mention something very important: one of her own bodyguards had applied for a gun permit!
That’s right. Besides being a liberal loon, Rosie O’Donnell is a Grade A hypocrite.
Initially she suggested that her bodyguard had been prompted by the company he represented to apply for the license. Later she admitted that she did feel that she and her family needed to be protected from—who else—Second Amendment advocates. (Paranoid much?) In one of many attempts to explain her use of a bodyguard, she said, “I chose to have a ‘bodyguard’ for my children.” |

Think it’s a good idea to drop the hammer on law-abiding people who legally carry handguns in public parks?
The Gastonia City Council doesn’t think so. Members refused to take the politically correct bait when they rejected a recommendation from the Recreation Advisory Commission.
The decision means people with concealed weapon permits aren’t barred from bringing handguns when they visit a city park or greenway, including athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, swimming pools and other recreational areas.
The commission wanted to allowed licensed, concealed weapons in parks, but favored a ban in the more specific recreational areas. |

CHEERS to Gov. Dennis Daugaard for having the sense and guts to veto a bill that seeks to remove the requirement that South Dakota residents obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon. It’s a risky political move for a Republican such as Daugaard to veto any perceived expansion of gun rights, as he did Friday, but he’s absolutely correct on this one. We’re for the Second Amendment, but we also realize sensible limits must be in place to ensure public safety. The permitting process helps make sure people who shouldn’t have a concealed weapon don’t get one. That’s a good and reasonable safeguard.

Question: The Illinois House of Representatives will debate legislation that would make it legal for licensed gun owners to carry firearms. Would you support such a measure?
Pass bill, let Chicago opt out
Despite concealed carry being a hot button issue, I’m lukewarm about it. I don’t think it’s a vital issue, and I believe our legislators should, instead, focus like a laser beam on finances.
I respect the 2nd Amendment, but I also understand why Chicago legislators don’t want more people out there walking around with guns.
