Gun control advocates in the Delaware General Assembly are at it again. On March 14th, anti-gun Senators introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 12, declaring “gun violence” a “public health crisis.” They rammed it through, allowing no opportunity for public comment or debate, with the Senate quickly passing the resolution on a vote of 14-6. The House then refused to allow a roll call vote and passed the resolution by voice vote over the strong objections of Second Amendment supporters.

Combat on the Eastern Front proved to be an unrelenting meat grinder of men and machines.

The Washington Senate Law & Justice Committee is scheduled to vote next week on House Bill 1240 creating a state definition of “assault weapon,” which the Gun Owners of America, or GOA, says would apply to most firearms. Tne of the reasons is due to the definition of assault weapons in the bill. Although the bill specifically lists 62 rifles by name “regardless of which company produced and manufactured the firearm,” the ban also applies to any semi-automatic rifle with a barrel length less than 30 inches. The gun barrel is the section of a firearm between the action and the muzzle.

Resistance. We use this term in different senses when discussing lower court decisions. One, courts might resist the fact of the Bruen decision itself or they might read the decision in a manner that resists adopting the logical conclusions of the decision’s methodology.

Self-defense is often talked about as a physical event. We’re taught to scream, kick, and poke the creep’s eyes out. The truth is that self-defense starts in your mind. And we use it daily, whether we’re aware of it or not. The best way to survive an attack is to avoid it altogether. So, every time you recognize behavior red flags or steer clear of dark alleys, you’re practicing self-defense. It’s as much mental as it is physical. Maybe even more.

Two years after Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee led the charge to allow residents 21 and older to carry handguns in public without a permit, younger adults could soon have the same privilege, with or without the governor’s signoff. A gun-rights group sued after the law was passed in 2021, arguing that the age limit should be lower. Then late last year, the state’s top lawyer moved to negotiate a settlement rather than defend the law, citing last year’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling expanding gun rights. In January, Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti proposed a deal that would allow 18- to 20-year-olds to carry handguns publicly.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has asked the Supreme Court to review an appeals court ruling that overturned a federal law banning those under domestic violence restraining orders from possessing firearms. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in February that the law was no longer constitutional based on the Supreme Court’s decision last June in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which found that gun regulations had to be consistent with the country’s historical tradition.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. — Justice William O. Douglas, US Supreme Court (1939-75)
