Below are Web sites for several organizations that are sponsoring programs for members of the Armed Forces overseas. While it would be inappropriate for the Department to endorse any specifically, servicemembers do value and appreciate such expressions of support."

"While writing the piece I inadvertently glossed over a portion of Senate Bill 1195 that exempts certain firearms from the bill's definition of a 'semi-automatic assault weapon.' Among the guns not included are any firearms 'manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action' and 'any semi-automatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine."

"That means most shotguns commonly used by hunters would not be impacted by Senate Bill 1195. That's not what I wrote Tuesday."

"So consider this a correction and an apology to anyone who drove to Thursday's pro-gun rally in Springfield on false pretenses. (Incidentally, several hundred gun owners jammed the Stratton Building for the Illinois State Rifle Association event.)"

More misinformation from the miscreants at jointogether. Gun manufacturers are already liable if they produce a defective product - much like any other manufacturer. What they shouldn't be held liable for is criminal misuse of their product. But we don't suppose the anti-freedom liars would know the difference.

"The NAACP is seeking an injunction that would impose specific restrictions on firearm sales, effectively setting national gun control policy by judicial fiat. It argues that gun makers have created a 'public nuisance' through 'negligent marketing' --'oversupplying' their products even though they know some will end up in the hands of criminals."

"Sound familiar? The same basic argument has been used, so far unsuccessfully, by municipalities seeking to get money from the industry and regulate it through the courts."
