It's not yet clear whether the owner wants it back, but Limestone County authorities recovered a stolen gun when it fell from an inmate's body cavity during a search at the jail.
Jesse O'Neal Roberts, 23, of Elkmont, was being booked into the Limestone County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication when the weapon fell from his body, said sheriff's spokesman Stephen Young. ...
When they arrived at the jail, corrections officers noticed Roberts appeared to be walking "strangely," Young said.
While being searched, Roberts stumbled and the pistol fell from his body cavity, Young said.
The weapon, which was reported stolen from Florence, was not loaded. It is a Jimenez .380-cailber pistol valued at $100. |

"It's sad any time there is a loss of life and there is a family that will be grieving. This homeowner had every right to protect himself and that's exactly what he did. These criminals are responsible for this death,' Christian said. "They weren't invited guests. The homeowner is the victim. When we find the other suspects we will look to charge them with murder. National Rifle Association members like to point out that when someone uses a gun in righteous self-defense, the media never reports it, and if they do, they malign the shooter before the circumstances are known.
Chalk that up as another of the NRA's propaganda tactics. The case of the Broken Arrow man who killed three home intruders Monday has made every media outlet in the country, including the Washington Post. And so far, no one is denouncing the 23-year-old son of the homeowner for taking out the would-be burglars with an AR-15. |

“He tried to shoot my neighbor’s dog in close proximity to my neighbor. I think he shot a second time in the direction of my neighbor and the children. And then when he saw me and I made the comment “There were not going to be no more shootings in this neighborhood”. The stranger reacted by turning with his AK-47 and at firing me and my house, the helpful neighbor told News4Jax.
When the stranger started shooting at him, and he fired back, hitting the man's vehicle as the man drove away. The unknown gunman shot out his truck windows and shot through two homes, one of which a woman was inside tending to her children. |

The Right-to-Carry revolution continues to sweep across the country. With Gov. Doug Burgum’s signing of HB 1169 last week, North Dakota became the latest state to adopt a “permitless”/constitutional carry law. New Hampshire passed its own “permitless” carry law earlier this year, while other states like South Carolina are still considering similar legislation. (South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard vetoed a constitutional carry bill passed by the legislature earlier this month.) There are now more states that have constitutional carry laws than there are states with restrictive “may-issue” policies for carrying firearms. In other words, more state laws look like New Hampshire’s than New Jersey’s, and that’s a very good thing. |

“ObamaCare Lite” was not exactly a great bill to begin with. It continued Obama's “mandate” under another name, with subsidies and entitlements.
That said, Gun Owners of America made three modest requests in exchange for not opposing the bill:
--That insurance companies be prohibited from discriminating against gun owners.
--That doctors not create a de facto gun registry by entering gun information into a federal database.
--The agencies not be able to troll Medicaid and federal health databases in order to send names to the NICS “gun ban” list.
Even these small requests were too much for House Speaker Paul Ryan. So we continued to oppose the bill. |

Two measures that would make it easier for Texans to access guns were up for consideration by the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee on Tuesday.
House Bill 375 by state Rep. Jonathan Stickland, R-Bedford, would allow Texans to openly carry a handgun with or without a license, making it optional for people in the state to obtain a permit or take a class. Stickland filed the same bill in 2015, but it was never heard in committee.
"I don't think the government has the right to say, 'You have a Second Amendment right, but only if you take this class and pay this fee,'" Stickland said as he laid out his bill. "If someone can legally possess a firearm, they should be able to carry that firearm." |

People could carry a concealed weapon without a permit in Wisconsin under a proposal released by Republican state lawmakers Tuesday.
State law already allows the open carry of a weapon without a permit.
"If you decide to throw on a coat, you should not be considered a criminal," said Sen. David Craig, R-Town of Vernon, one of the bill’s sponsors, in a prepared statement. "If you decide to carry a weapon to protect yourself or your family, you should be able to do so easily — without bureaucratic hurdles and without cost." |

The National Rifle Association has picked Montana as one of just a handful of states nationwide where it will be pouring money into advertising to try to persuade Senators to vote for Trump Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch.
“The ad by itself is a million dollars in total, and that covers four states, there are television ads, there are online ads, and there’s a variety of different outreach campaigns that we’re using,” said NRA spokesman Lars Daleseide. “Hopefully we’re going to be able to reach enough people so that they’ll call their Senators and say ‘enough of these shenanigans, we need to get this vote on the floor and let the court get back to work.’” |

SB-646 by Sen. Greg Steube was scheduled to be heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, between 3:00-5:00pm. But it wasn't.
SB-646 Open Carrying by Sen. Greg Steube removes the criminal penalties for violations of the open carry law and prohibits a person who has a concealed firearms license from being arrested and charged with a crime if their firearm becomes temporarily exposed to sight of another person. (See background below)
Why wasn't it heard by the committee? It had to be “Temporarily Postponed” because, once again, Sen. Anitere Flores (R-Miami) was single-handedly going to kill it. |

On Feb. 5, my son Trayvon Martin would have been 22 years old. Just like every year, my family celebrated his birthday surrounded by friends and loved ones. And like every year since his death, I mourned my son, whose life was cut short by someone who decided to shoot first just because of the color of Trayvon’s skin.
Trayvon was only 17 years old when he was followed and killed by a stranger who believed he looked threatening. He was visiting with his father, walking home from the store, unarmed. He had just a packet of candy and a can of iced tea. This person killed my son for simply walking through his own neighborhood. |

Governor Mead signed HB 194 “School Safety and Security” into law. That same day, he vetoed HB 137 “Repeal Gun Free Zones.”
I applaud the first, and decry the second. As a pro-life, conservative, Christian, I am just fine with people carrying firearms into schools and into government meetings.
That doesn’t mean I’m any less pro-life. Hand guns are not built to kill people, but to defend them from being killed. Designed so that their size and weight makes them easier to carry, they are more likely to be nearby when there is an imminent threat of grave bodily injury. For those rare but real situations, the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees “the right of the people to keep and bear arms.” |

New legislation was introduced Tuesday in the Michigan House of Representatives that allows law-abiding citizens to carry concealed pistols without obtaining a government-issued permit.
The four-bill package is sponsored by Reps. Michele Hoitenga of Manton, Triston Cole of Mancelona, Sue Allor of Wolverine and Pamela Hornberger of Chesterfield Township.
"Responsible people shouldn't have to obtain a special permit from the government to exercise a right that is guaranteed in both the U.S. and state constitutions," Hoitendga said. |

Last week, the North Dakota Legislature passed the “constitutional carry” bill that has since been signed into law by Gov. Burgum. This law allows citizens to carry a concealed weapon if they meet the eligibility requirements for a Class 2 concealed weapons’ license and have possessed a valid North Dakota driver’s license or ID card for at least one year. It will go into effect Aug. 1 of this year.
Our state constitution reinforces the broad right of our citizens to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by our federal constitution. With the constitutional carry law in place, any North Dakota citizen who is legally allowed to carry a gun will no longer have to prove to the government they can do so. |

Today marks Sine Die, the 40th and final day of Georgia’s Legislative Session, and any bills that don’t clear both chambers by adjournment are dead for the year.
Members of Cherokee’s legislative delegation are working feverishly, likely past midnight, to get their bills through before the session comes to an end.
A controversial bill to allow adults with a concealed weapons permit to carry their guns onto Georgia’s public college campuses cleared the Senate on Tuesday and returns to the House today for final approval.
If approved, House Bill 280, carried by Rep. Mandi Ballinger, R-Canton, could head to the governor’s desk this afternoon. |

Almost 20 years after the infamous “Samurai Man” incident brought downtown Seattle to a standstill, cops in the Jet City have another fellow in custody who was waving a folding knife around, stopping traffic and holding police at bay. Tuesday’s incident ended when the “knife man” put down his blade, a side lock model with a partly serrated tanto-style blade – according to an image published on the Seattle Police Blotter – and this time the cops didn’t have to haul out a firehose, as they did in April 1997. Timing was everything in that caper. Had “Samurai Man” waited another month before pulling his sword in public, he might have had the wrong audience and a far different outcome. |
