NRA Management's Support for “Assault Weapons” Banners

"With all of the recent rumors going around about the NRA Management having possibly cut a deal to allow the renewal of the Clinton/Feinstein semi-auto rifle and magazine ban, perhaps it's time to take a look at NRA management's Congressional strategy back when the original ban was signed into law in 1994. Maybe we should carefully consider NRA management's other shows of support for the banners of 'assault weapons,' too. After all, there must be some logical reason a dozen or more non-NRA grassroots groups don't trust the '800 pound gorilla' when it comes to this particular federal gun ban, right?"

"The following sections are covered in this report, which you can read in less than five minutes:

• How NRA Management's Strategy Helped the 1994 Gun Ban Pass
• Return of the “Fix it in Committee” Strategy
• NRA Director Awarded After Voting for 1994 Ban
• Who Else Was Rewarded for Supporting Rifle Bans?
• NRA's “Second Amendment Champion” Voted to Renew Ban

Saddam's Heirs: A Look at the New Iraqi "Constitution"

"The Coalition Provisional Authority of Iraq has just signed what is being described as a 'landmark interim constitution.' A quick scan of the document tells me all I need to know: Meet the new boss -- same as the old boss." ...

"Still -- the question I was most interested in: Do these 'FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS' include an unalienable right to keep and bear arms? For the government, sure. But if you're a lowly citizen, forget it. It's Orwellian the way they worked this prohibition into their Bizarro Bill of Rights:
"It shall not be permitted to possess, bear, buy, or sell arms except on licensure issued in accordance with the law."
KABA NOTE:

Also banned in the "new and improved" Iraq: militias. If you look at their "Constitution," you'll also notice that there's a virtual green light for warrantless searches and seizures. Read the above short article to see some of the other "freedom" being brought to the country America is "liberating".

Alleged "pro Second Amendment" former cop "cannot imagine a reason where there would be a need for a citizen to possess an assault type weapon"

A so-called "conservative" and former law enforcement officer espouses the Second Amendment while insulting anyone who believes in it:

"I cannot imagine a reason where there would be a need for a citizen to possess an assault type weapon. These weapons are not even issued to police officers with the exception of specialized units. But, now we have armed robberies, home invasions, and assaults on police officers during the commission of a crime where assault weapons are commonplace. It seems absurd that criminals are showing up better armed than police officers whose job it is to protect the public." ...

Etc. In other words, a John Kerry. Read the rest, if you can stomach it.

Here's Your Reason, Fledgling Patriot:

To protect ourselves, our families, our communities and our nation from people who arrogantly think we need to justify the expression of any of our basic human, civil and Constitutional rights.

This guy actually goes on to say:

"Quite frankly, when someone buys an assault weapon, it should be assumed that it will be used for some type of an assault. ... Despite these legitimate reasons, the majority of these weapons are being used to kill people in a violent act." ...

"Military assault rifles probably will be back on the market this fall, thanks to a bizarre day in the Senate. Efforts to extend the 10-year ban on such nonsporting weaponry died when Republicans decided to defeat their own gun legislation rather than see it pass with Democratic amendments." ...

-------
Military assault rifles are, of course -- as any intelligent gun owner knows -- fully automatic. The gun ban expiring in September is a useless ban on a few semi-auto rifles based on arbitrary ergonomic and safety features.

Furthermore, calling semi-auto rifles "nonsporting weaponry" only shows that gun-clueless gun bigots pretending to be journalists still work in the mainstream media. Perhaps this "reporter" would like to attend a competition featuring AR-15's. Pick a state; they happen all over the country.

Finally, the Second Amendment doesn't have a thing to do with "sport". The "sporting purpose" nonsense was a ploy by the Nazis. Click here to read the facts.

So what we have here, at the Buffalo News, is a bigoted, gun-ignorant Nazi sympathizer, plain and simple. And is anybody surprised?

NEW YORK -- Musician David Crosby was arrested on marijuana and gun possession charges early Saturday at a Times Square hotel, police said. Crosby, 62, a two-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had checked out of the hotel but left a piece of luggage behind, police said.

A hotel worker found the bag and went through it looking for identification, and called police after finding marijuana, a .45-caliber handgun and two knives, authorities said.

Crosby was met by police when he returned to pick up the bag, investigators said.

Crosby, a founding member of both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, had been performing at the B.B. King Blues Club off Times Square and at Shea Auditorium in Wayne, N.J.

In 1985 he was convicted of drug possession in Dallas and spent a year in prison before his conviction was overturned on appeal.

Calls seeking comment from Crosby's management company were not immediately returned Saturday.

CANADA -- Where very stringent gun control leads to editorials like these...
-------

"They" have already taken over the streets, certainly in a handful of benighted neighbourhoods, where killers stalk their prey brazenly, no tremor of fear in their trigger fingers, not an ounce of pity or mercy, undaunted by gangland police squads and politically formulated task forces skewed towards the "root causes" of gun crime.

-----
That's right: gun control doesn't work; self-defense does. See how long thugs like those described above survive in Montana, Idaho or many other U.S. states where many people carry firearms wherever they go.
