Two armed robbers were caught in a doorbell video attempting to invade a home while wearing coronavirus medical masks and gloves - in an incident that left one of them dead and the other under arrest.
The Illinois homeowner gunned down one of the suspects and chased the other out of his house in Arlington Heights, a Chicago suburb under a coronavirus lockdown.
“Fearing for his life and the lives of his wife and children, the homeowner discharged a round from the family handgun, striking Mr. Brodacz in the abdomen,” police said, WGN-TV reported. |

The California Rifle & Pistol Association, FFL Guard, along with several firearm retailers have filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles to block enforcement of the city’s ban on gun store operations under current COVID-19 restrictions.
Despite guidance from the Department of Homeland Security, an order from the State Public Health Officer, and countless legal opinions, several anti-gun jurisdictions in California continue to deny police, first responders, private security, and private citizens access to firearms, ammunition, and information needed to solve crimes. |

The Crow Wing County Board is set to consider a resolution that, if passed, would designate the county as “Second Amendment dedicated.”
The resolution is on the board’s meeting agenda for Tuesday, April 14 — forwarded by Chairman Paul Koering three weeks after originally planned as the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of a March 19 public hearing on the matter and focused commissioners’ attention on mitigation efforts. |

The National Rifle Association will furlough more staffers on Friday morning, according to an internal email obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre told staffers in a Thursday email that a new wave of furloughs will commence on Friday. Those workers will continue to receive health benefits during their absence, but will no longer be paid beginning on Monday. He said the cuts were necessary to "ensure our ‘house'—the bedrock of protecting our nation’s freedom—remains viable for the long term." He said the gun-rights organization has "lost significant revenue" after the coronavirus pandemic forced the Second Amendment group to cancel its annual meeting, trainings, fundraising events, and competitions. |

Several gun rights groups filed a lawsuit on Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts that challenges the decision of Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker to close all businesses selling firearms and ammunition to the public.
Baker issued COVID-19 Order No. 13 on March 23, which closed the physical workplaces of all businesses and organizations that do not provide essential services. Under the order, firearm and ammunition retailers were not considered essential services. |

The National Rifle Association and a group of firearms-related businesses and advocacy organizations have filed a federal lawsuit against New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham over her order to close gun shops and shooting ranges as a part of a broader measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“By arbitrarily, capriciously — and unconstitutionally — targeting those who lawfully sell firearms and ammunition, New Mexico is depriving citizens of their natural and fundamental right to keep and bear arms,” the complaint says. |

Gun rights groups as well as Safeside Tactical, which has stores and shooting ranges in Lynchburg and Roanoke, are seeking an injunction against Gov. Ralph Northam so indoor gun ranges can receive an exemption to an executive order requiring recreational businesses to close.
The lawsuit challenges an executive order from Northam that imposes temporary restrictions on certain businesses to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The order mandates recreational and entertainment businesses close, which includes indoor shooting ranges. |

By executive action on March 21, Governor Murphy shut down gun stores, NICS, and all ranges in the state, preventing millions of law-abiding citizens from obtaining firearms and ammunition, and practicing with firearms. Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) immediately sued to reopen gun stores and NICS. The Trump Administration then issued a national guideline that gun stores should be deemed “essential” and remain open. Under pressure, and with reluctance, Murphy reversed himself and reopened gun stores and NICS, restoring the ability to purchase firearms. As of the date of this email, gun stores and NICS remain open. |

But unlike gun stores, churches have the ability to conduct services online. Gun stores don’t have the same option.
In fact, even gun stores going through great lengths to observe social distancing procedures were ordered closed. This is problematic. The government should make some kind of allowance for Californians to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
The reality is that few people are going to lose sleep over the temporary loss of gun rights in California. Public opinion polling shows that gun ownership is dwindling, while demand for stricter gun laws is rising. |

The National Rifle Association (NRA) and other pro-Second Amendment organizations filed a lawsuit in New Mexico today challenging anti-gun Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's use of emergency powers and her COVID-19 statewide order to shut down firearm retailers and ranges.

CNN reported that a so-called “gun safety group aligned with former New York Mayor, and failed presidential candidate, Michael Bloomberg” is targeting 13 “battleground states” in an effort to register 100,000 young voters to help determine which party controls the White House and the U.S. Senate in January.
The 13 identified states are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin, according to the CNN report. |

Amidst the madness of the pandemic, you will find an oasis of sanity at the local shooting range. Say what? At the shooting range?
If you took a drive through Narragansett this past weekend, you were greeted by fluorescent, no parking signs and blocked off beach lots, at virtually every possible public entry to the ocean. But only a few miles inland, at the Peacedale Shooting Preserve, there was plenty of safe, outdoor and indoor activity. Standing 6 feet apart at the stations, small groups of gun enthusiasts took turns blasting away at sporting clays, as they catapulted into the air. One hunter would release the clays on the command of the shooter, and he would try to hit them as they flew across the sky. |

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam signed a slate of gun control measures into law Friday that will increase background checks, limit handgun purchases and establish a so-called "red flag" law.
Guns became a divisive issue in Virginia after Democrats won full control of the state's General Assembly in November, and Northam, a Democrat, promised to pass the host of restrictions.
The signing comes almost three months after more than 20,000 gun owners descended on the state capitol in Richmond to protest the measures. It's also been almost a year since the deadly Virginia Beach shooting left 12 people dead plus the shooter at a municipal building. |

A couple of weeks ago, while several state governors shut down their jurisdictions in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a few even attempted to suspend the exercise of Second Amendment rights.
One such governor, New Jersey’s Phil Murphy, quickly found himself on the receiving end of a federal civil rights lawsuit, filed by the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF). Much smaller in membership than the National Rifle Association, SAF has become a powerhouse in the legal arena, responsible for a majority of recent gun rights victories and case law since the 2010 landmark Supreme Court ruling in McDonald v. City of Chicago. |

The FBI conducted background checks on 96,654 transactions in Minnesota last month, the most ever in the state for a single month. That number is part of a record 3.7 million background checks processed nationwide. |
