As the debate over gun regulations rages globally, researchers now report that the Dark Web has become a big market for weapons trade. Sixty-four per cent of the products advertised were handguns, 17 per cent semi-automatic long guns and fully automatic long guns 4 per cent, said the team from Michigan State University which crept into Tor, a Dark Web browser, to investigate how firearms are anonymously bought and sold around the world. |

What will it be like if the internet America invented and designed is replaced in the next technological cycle by one that is controlled, developed, implemented, and managed by the Chinese? The danger of America giving up and allowing the Chinese to win was driven home by a senior United States government official this week. The Washington Post published a story headlined: “U.S. officials planning for a future in which Huawei has a major share of 5G global networks.” |

Mass shootings have become institutionalized as an almost normal part of American life, as have the responses to such shootings. After each massacre, victims, their families and gun-control advocates bemoan the latest atrocity and call for background checks and a ban on assault weapons. Gun rights advocates oppose such reforms and stand behind the Second Amendment. |

Some banks have embarked on a business path to enact policies to restrict gun sales and exert pressure on the firearms industry. Two of banks grabbing headlines for anti-gun policies are Citibank and Bank of America. Citibank, owned by Citigroup in New York, has issued a new policy called the “U.S. Commercial Firearms Policy.” Citi refuses to do business with any gun vendor that sells guns to customers under age 21—even though federal law and the majority of states allow gun sales to individuals at least 18 years of age who are not otherwise prohibited from owning a gun.

The six nearly simultaneous blasts—followed hours later by two more explosions—marked the bloodshed as among the worst since the South Asian country’s 26-year civil war ended a decade ago, a spokesperson for the Sri Lanka police said.
The explosions collapsed ceilings and blew out windows, killing worshippers and hotel guests. People were seen carrying the wounded out of blood-spattered pews. Witnesses described powerful explosions, followed by scenes of smoke, blood, broken glass, alarms going off and victims screaming in terror.

There’s no two ways about it: The United States of America and its 50 state governments love putting people in prison.
The U.S. has both the highest number of prisoners and the highest per capita incarceration rate in the modern world at 655 adults per 100,000. (It’s worth noting that China’s incarceration statistics are dubious, and they execute far more people than the United States. Indeed, the so-called People’s Republic executes more people annually than the rest of the world combined.) Still, that’s more than 2.2 million Americans in state and federal prisons as well as county jails. |

I shoot a .22 a lot. Especially in the spring whistle pig (WP) hunting. The WP’s official name is a Townsend Ground Squirrel. They look like a miniature prairie dog but are a little more hyper. On prairie dogs, the gun of choice is a .223, 25-06 or maybe a .308. You’ll be getting long shots. On a WP, airguns, .22’s, .22 mags and .17 HMR’s are the guns of choice. I don’t want to say that you don’t get a chance at some long shots, but 90% of your shots will be under 125 yards. Mainly due to the terrain, sagebrush and how hyper that they are. |

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is reminding antler hunters that the gathering of horns or shed antlers does not begin until May 1 on public lands west of the Continental Divide. Since 2009, antler hunting is prohibited in the area from Jan. 1 through April 30 on all state-owned lands as well as federal lands. The closures to antler hunting seek to minimize harassment or disturbance of big game animals during and right after the long winter.
