"While clowning around with my grandchildren one day, I suddenly shouted, 'Look at the sky, it has turned from blue to green.'"

"Try as I might, I could never convince them that it was true, because they could see and couldn't be fooled. So it is with Robert Levy's column ..."

"Levy claims that our right to have firearms locked in our cars in a parking lot is not about the Second Amendment but about the mythical right of corporations to usurp the Constitution and ban guns. But Levy didn't pull it off because we can see the truth. And the price he's asking us to pay for permission to do business with an anti-gun corporation could mean losing our lives - and that price is as clear as the sky is blue." ...

"Since the Virginia Tech atrocity just over a year ago, citizen disarmament advocates have clamored for the return of the ban on so-called 'assault weapons.' The justification offered is not that either of the firearms used that awful day have ever been defined as 'assault weapons' ... but because the ban also included magazines with a capacity of eleven or more rounds. The 'reasoning' (to be charitable) is apparently that if the murderous scum had needed to change magazines more often, the carnage would have been less. I can only assume that those advancing that argument have never seen a Travis Tomasie reload." ...

"GCO has entered into a settlement agreement with the City of East Point, in a case filed by GCO against East Point and other Fulton County governmental entities over ordinances banning the carrying of firearms in parks. East Point earlier had repealed its ordinance a replaced it with an ordinance banning carrying firearms to public gatherings. After additional discussions with GCO, East Point has agreed to repeal the latter ordinance as well, coming into complete compliance with state law on the subject. East Point also has agreed to reimburse GCO for its attorney’s fees. GCO will drop East Point from the case after East Point complies with the settlement agreement." ...

"Police are sorting out a shooting that took place early Friday in northwest Phoenix, resulting in the wounding of a suspected auto burglar and the closing of 43rd Avenue south of Bell Road."

"The injured man, who suffered wounds that were not life-threatening, was shot by an irate homeowner who told officers he gave chase and fired after somebody tried to break into his vehicle, police said."

"There were no immediate arrests as investigators gathered evidence and tried to determine whether the shooter, under the facts of the case, was justified in using deadly force, said Detective Stacie Derge, a Phoenix police spokeswoman." ...

"A few days ago, the Dayton Daily News ran a piece proclaiming that 'Students for Concealed Carry on Campus is fighting for the right to be armed at school.' The reality is that all students have an inherent right to be armed ... Students for Concealed Carry on Campus are merely pressing legislators to bring their civil liberties in line with their existing inherent rights."

"Officials are none too happy with this effort ... According to CNN, Gene Ferrara, the police chief at the University of Cincinnati (UC) said 'I don't think the answer to bullets flying is to send more bullets flying.' One wonders why campus police are armed at all if they object so strongly to armed intervention to stop violent criminal attacks." ...

"A representative from Students for Concealed Carry on Campus argued for a more sensible policy for carrying concealed handguns on college and university campuses at Walter Hall last night."

"'It's hypocritical to say you can bring a gun into a 300-person movie theatre but not a 300-person lecture hall,' said Stephen Feltoon, Midwest regional director of SCCC."

"Feltoon, a 2007 graduate of Miami University of Ohio, spoke for a 40-person group as part of the SCCC's weeklong protest of concealed carry laws across the nation that forbid concealed handguns on college campuses." ...

"Allowing students to carry guns on college campuses would give them a 'fighting chance' in a repeat of last April's shootings at Virginia Tech, a National Rifle Association representative said yesterday at the University of Mary Washington."

"Brent Gardner, a grassroots coordinator for the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, asked six students in an audience of nine people in a Combs Hall classroom why an 'invisible boundary line' should stop them from carrying guns if they have permits."

"People with gun permits who aren't UMW students can carry firearms on the Fredericksburg campus, which the school discourages." ...

"In Sunday's Student Senate meeting Jae Baker, president of a new student organization aimed at empowering women and their second amendment right, Females for Firearms, made a statement in response to UND's gun control policies, including the current issue of the forbiddance of weapons in on-campus apartments. A decision for the policy will be made later this week."

"'The function of the club right now is to educate people on all different aspects of firearms, which include what type they are and what they are used for,' she said. 'Some people don't even know the difference between shotguns and protection pieces.'" ...

"Recent efforts to pass gun-control legislation in Pennsylvania have fallen flat - to no one's surprise, probably. Laws that have passed either will have little effect on reducing gun violence (setting up a registry for lost or stolen handguns) or will likely be declared unconstitutional by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court (the bills passed by Philadelphia City Council)."

"What can a legislator from the Philadelphia suburbs, one who has come around to embrace reasonable restrictions on handgun ownership and possession, do to push a bill that would both be meaningful and get through the legislature, while recognizing the stranglehold the National Rifle Association (NRA) has on lawmakers outside the region?" ...

"Three weeks after it slipped through the Legislature, a bill to permit licensed owners to carry concealed firearms in parks, on public transportation and in booze-serving restaurants has resulted in a delayed storm of protest urging Gov. Sonny Perdue to veto the measure."

"MARTA bus drivers already have 1,000 signatures on a petition demanding bulletproof shields ... The Georgia Restaurant Association, wondering how waiters and waitresses are to keep patrons from both drinking and packing, is prepared to go to court."

"And on Thursday, led by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, a group of two dozen political, business and community leaders warned of increased violence and citizens-turned-enforcers ..." ...

"Ignoring overwhelming public testimony that it would jeopardize workplace safety, the Florida Senate approved (and Governor Charlie Crist -- hoping to become Vice President Charlie Crist) signed legislation into ludicrous law recently - permitting employees to transport, and to keep in vehicles at work, a gun."

"Did you know that even employees who work at pre-schools and day-care centers can now legally transport a weapon back and forth to work?"

"Sadly it will take the inevitable 30-second cooling-off-time -- which will morph into the 20 seconds it takes to get a gun from the car - and that then to become a lifelong tragedy --- before the Florida legislature will revisit and change this nonsense legislation." ...

"They are familiar pictures. Police lay out a stash of weapons, all turned in at area churches as part of Rochester's no-questions-asked gun drop off program."

"The motiviation: A Wegmans gift card - guns for groceries. The idea: Fewer guns on the streets means less violence, but is it working?"

"'We can't really measure how successful we are, but we got 150 guns last year,' said Chief David Moore of the Rochester Police Department. 'I would like to think at least that some of those guns could have been at risk of harming someone, and so in my mind, I think it's a very successful program.'"

like to thank the majority of Carroll County Board members for reaffirming their oath to both the Illinois and U.S. constitutions regarding the Second Amendment, and those two who did not take their oath seriously need to be reminded why our Forefathers added the Second Amendment. They had the foresight and previous experience that there would become a day that we, the people, could have to take our county back, with force, from an out-of-control, freedom-robbing, tyrannical government."

"This Second Amendment has absolutely nothing to do with one's right to hunt or sport shoot. The people were never to fear their government (as most do these days) but government was to fear the people and do its job as the people wish ..." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771
