"But don't bother asking your local librarian if anyone has been peeking in the files or checking the computers. The law says they can't talk about searches - not to you, not to the press, not to their congressmen and not to each other."

This Act, passed in response to the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on our country, was passed hastily and in a time of fear. It affects all of us in some very basic and important ways. Part I of this series states briefly why we should demand the immediate repeal or amendment of the USA Patriot Act."

"Now consider the Second Amendment. It reads, 'A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, (there's that word again with its dual meaning) the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed'. The working of that is emphatic and inclusive. There is no room for interpretation as to whether it refers to the federal, state or local governments. It means all governments in the entire polity of the United States of America."

While all are helpful, no one can ignore the evidence from the last couple of weeks that all three policies are simply not enough. If the administration is going to be serious about keeping terrorists out of the cockpit, Mineta and Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge need to being considering something they have long resisted arming pilots."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
