... "Activist Russ Howard welcomes GOA’s alert as a desperately needed sea-change adjustment to the single-issue model that prevails in the gun rights community, just in time for a chance to defeat the 'Gang of 10’s' comprehensive open-immigration bill. 'This could be like a call from the governor 10 minutes before execution. What would we do without GOA and the other steadfast groups like Grassroots North Carolina and Oregon Firearms Federation?'" ...

... "On Monday, [Illinois State Attorney General] Madigan pulled one more arrow from her quiver. With the May 23 deadline for her decision on whether or not to file a Supreme Court appeal fast approaching, and with no sign that a legislative solution is in the offing within that time frame, she is asking the Court to extend the deadline until June 24. From the Chicago Sun-Times:"

"Winchester Ammunition has expanded their line of premium self-defense ammunition known as 'PDX1 Defender.' The newest caliber: 7.62×39mm. It’s a great addition to the product line, since there’s little widely available premium ammo for this workhouse commie caliber. ... Although more of a specialty round, Winchester’s new Razorback XT round is also worthy of mention as a premium hunting round. But where the Razorback features a solid, lead-free bullet optimized for thick-skinned ungulates such as Sus scrofa, the PDX1 is designed to expand more rapidly, presumably in bipedal vermin of the homo-sapiens or homo neanderthalensis variety. Don’t laugh – there are definitely some of those Neanderthals still running around ..." ...

"The gun control lobby hasn’t taken well to their recent defeat in the U.S. Senate. They’re bitching and moaning and polling and promising to revive their dead background check bill. The anti-gun grumbling is, in the main, mainstream media misegos. The public has moved on. Why wouldn’t they? Miniature Schnauzers have a longer attention span (and I mean that in the nicest possible way to both man and beast). To keep the anti-gunners’ juices flowing, the gun grabbers have changed the subject. Dancing in the blood of innocents, again, still, they’ve used the Boston Marathon bombing as an excuse to return to the subject of the 'terror gap.' The Senate passed legislation Tuesday declaring that 'All federal acts, laws, orders, rules or regulations regarding firearms are a violation of the Second Amendment.' It also says federal laws in violation of the Second Amendment shall be considered null and void in Alabama. The vote was 24-6." ...

... "With that statement as the backdrop, were you troubled by what happened recently in the Boston metropolitan area - not with the bomber, but with the 'good guys'? I was amazed that 'the people” of Boston allowed military-style uniformed police with fully automatic weapons in armored vehicles to lock down their city and patrol their streets. This action was nothing short of martial law. I was even more amazed that “the people” then walked out of their homes when instructed and allowed their homes to be searched without protest, with no warrant, and with no probable cause of any crime and with no evidence of any criminal harbored inside their homes." ...

"The Governmental Accountability Office (GAO), Congress’ financial investigative and auditing agency, has gotten involved in the controversy over the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) massive buy-up of firearms ammunition."

"In an interview with U.S. News,GAO spokesman Chuck Young said the investigation is 'just getting underway.' "It comes as no surprise to the well informed gun owners across the state, but the State Police are finally admitting something they have been reticent to do so far: There is no requirement to conceal your firearm when carrying it in public. If you have a handgun, you need a permit to open carry or to carry concealed." ...

H/t to David Codrea who asks: Will they also admit that they have given through training on this to all of their troops, and that there is a liability for harming lawful open carriers that cannot be swept away with a blanket 'following department protocols' excuse?

"When it comes to tracking crime guns, California is immune to scientific infection."

"Knowledge should precede policy. Yet California gun policy is often made in engineered ignorance. Despite pleas from law enforcement and assistance from the National Rifle Association, California’s most basic crime gun research processes wouldn’t receive a passing grade for a Research Methodologies 101 class."

"Nowhere has the dearth of data on crime guns been more profound than on so-called 'assault weapons' and felons with firearms." ...

"State lawmakers won’t be the ones under fire, so to speak, should a shooting occur on a college campus. "I read with interest City Sage by John Hazlehurst ('The golden age of guns,' April 17). As do many others, John tries to put the blame on inanimate objects for death and destruction. A car or a gun sits dormant until put to use by a person. Neither cars nor guns make a decision to go on an uncontrolled rampage. The blame belongs to the owner." ...

"Some Alabama Senate action this week brings to mind an old drawing of an ancient, gray-bearded Confederate soldier, battle flag waving behind, his face twisted into a fierce grimace. As the state’s upper chamber passed a measure it says would nullify any federal attempt at gun control, we could almost hear that angry rebel holler, 'Hell, no, we ain’t a-fergettin’!'"

"Both Bruce Borgeson and Anne Diller's elitist anti-gun letters in the Mail Tribune April 21, and April 22, respectively, were disgraceful! Not only do they perpetrate class warfare, Soviet-style collectivism, socialism, civilian disarmament et cetera, but likewise a war against women! Comrade V.I. Lenin would have agreed and appreciated "useful idiots" via the anti-gun agenda assisting in revolution, subversion, and eventual enslavement of unarmed masses!" ...
