"You may recall that TTAG scribe Chris Dumm and I had some 'issues' with the 1894c’s Marlin sent us for our competing project guns (retro-funky vs. Cowboy Assault Rifle). In specific, my unfired lever action 1894c broke in two (the stock and the action had a dramatic parting of the ways). Chris’s 1894c had some oaf marks on the screws and various other fit and finish problems. Before posting the pics and video of the unintentional folding-stock lever gun, I contacted Marlin’s spinmeister for comment. She demurred, pending contact with the appropriate product managers. So I pressed play on the Marlin brand slam and called my main man Len at Grizzly Custom Guns, to whom the 1894c was supposedly headed . . ." ... |

"Along with the M&P pistols and rifles, the Smith and Wesson folks brought out a few other goodies, ranging from flashlights to press kit USB devices shaped like ear plugs. An item that caught my particular attention: their Pro Series 1911 in 9mm. Ever the gun junkie, I approached the Smith rep about carrying the pistol for the morning. Ever the ballistic crack dealer, he happily obliged. Galco fit me with a holster and mag carrier on the spot. It rode my hip and I put the Smith and Wesson Pro Series 9mm 1911 through it’s paces. Word is that the bullet(s) that ended his life was a Black Hill’s 77 grain Match round. The cartridge is part of the continuing process to 'fix' the 5.56 x 45 mm rounds for greater lethality.
