Glock clearly makes some of the most popular handguns on the planet, thanks to the popular Glock 19 and Glock 17 firearms. But what about other models that fire bigger rounds than 9mm? Here comes the Glock 30SF: .45 is a fun caliber. It’s big, bulky, and above all an absolute classic. That’s not even mentioning that sweet stopping power. Now, I’m not the type to carry .45 but that doesn’t mean I don’t have an appreciation for this old-timer caliber. It seems like Glock does too. They have a decent lineup of pistols chambered in 45 ACP. |

A new study shows the theft of firearms from vehicles is on the rise.
The study comes from a non-profit organization called Everytown for Gun Safety. The organization says the number of reported cases is up from a few years ago. From 2019 to 2020, the study found that 180 cities around the country saw an increase in gun thefts from vehicles. That now makes up for the largest source of stolen firearms, according to the study.
And this is of great concern to Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill. |

A North Carolina sheriff has been ordered by the court to stop delaying the issuance of North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permits. Using the excuse that the department was backed up due to covid and the increase in new gun owners, delayed concealed carry permits for up to a year. To take that in perspective, state law says that sheriffs have up to 45 days to either approve or deny applications. |

A U.S. appeals court ruled Wednesday that California's ban on the sale of semiautomatic weapons to adults under 21 is unconstitutional.
In a 2-1 ruling, a panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Wednesday the law violates the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and a San Diego judge should have blocked what it called "an almost total ban on semiautomatic centerfire rifles" for young adults. "America would not exist without the heroism of the young adults who fought and died in our revolutionary army," Judge Ryan Nelson wrote. "Today we reaffirm that our Constitution still protects the right that enabled their sacrifice: the right of young adults to keep and bear arms." |

The 17-year-old underwent surgery following transportation to an unidentified hospital, and before Wednesday, the PCSO did not release further information beyond an expectation that the teenager would survive his injuries.
In an email on Wednesday, PCSO Public Information Officer Lauren Reimer told NewsBreak that detectives have determined a 10-year-old child shot the 17-year-old with a high-velocity pellet gun. Reimer said that detectives believe the 10-year-old was acting in self-defense, and whether the teenager is criminally-charged remains an open question, as the investigation is ongoing. |

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that lawsuits filed by the National Rifle Association, Second Amendment Foundation and “other gun rights groups” challenging California’s sharing of admittedly “detailed information on gun owners” with researchers is hampering so-called “gun violence studies.”
Or is it the L.A. Times?
The story, authored by Will Van Sant, is actually a piece published simultaneously by The Trace—the non-profit journal “devoted to gun-related news in the United States” that was “established in 2015 with seed money from the largest gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.” |

The unauthorized leak of a draft abortion opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court has Democrats up in arms (again) about packing the U.S. Supreme Court. This isn’t a new argument and one gun control advocates publicly pitched before.
Senators are openly calling for court-packing again and that’s before the Supreme Court has rendered a final opinion on New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen or finalized the opinion of the leaked abortion draft decision. Even before the nine justices heard arguments on the New York case challenging the state’s arbitrary and restrictive “may issue” concealed carry permit criteria, there were calls for court-packing. |

Money lets you buy what you want. Now that many of our Deep Blue cities have defunded the police and crime has exploded, people with money are buying off-duty police officers to stop crime in their neighborhoods. Though recently covered in the news, the use of private security is an expansion of a long-term trend. What should make news are the billionaires trying to disarm the rest of us.
Rich people live in gated communities and walled compounds. They have their own security force. Some wealthy families have their own private security detail that lives with the owners inside their walled compound. It may have fancy flower beds on the outside, but it remains a castle in disguise. |

The Louisiana House passed legislation to ban government agencies from contracting with companies that limit business with firearm manufacturers, despite a veto by Gov. John Bel Edwards of a similar bill last session.
The lower chamber voted 71-26 on Tuesday to approve House Bill 978, sponsored by Rep. Blake Miguez, R-Erath, to prohibit government business with large companies that have policies that target the firearm industry. The bill requires contracting companies to provide written verification they do not have policies that discriminate against a firearm entity or trade association and will not discriminate against the same. |

In 2017, according to the Small Arms Survey, American civilians owned more than 393 million firearms. Purchases in 2018 and 2019 added an estimated 27 million guns to that stock of weapons. If sales in 2020 had been similar to sales in the two previous years, they would have added another 13 million or so. Assuming Wintemute's estimate is in the right ballpark, the "gun-buying spree" that worries the Times amounted to a further increase of about 3.5 percent. Although Times reporters Roni Caryn Rabin and Tim Arango seem to think that's a plausible explanation for a 33 percent increase in the gun homicide rate, it's not clear why.
It is demonstrably not true that more guns in circulation automatically results in more homicides. |

These deadly statistics prove an uptick in serious crime, committed by dangerous individuals and usually committed with illegal or stolen weapons. Unfortunately, President Joe Biden isn’t going after them. He’s turned his attention yet again to law-abiding citizens who wish to exercise their Second Amendment rights. Biden wants the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to ban privately made firearms, so-called “ghost guns.” These are predominantly a hobbyist option and require extensive time, special tooling, and dedication to craftsmanship to make them operate correctly — far more effort than criminals are willing to invest. |

That brings us to this week — Allen West is back with a bid to replace LaPierre at the NRA’s annual meeting and convention later this month. He has been nominated by a few current and former NRA board members.
Personally, I think LaPierre should have retired in humility back in 2018. Whether West can rally enough board support to replace LaPierre is doubtful, especially given West’s charge three years ago: “There is a cabal of cronyism operating within the NRA and that exists within the Board of Directors.”
But, on behalf of grassroots 2A advocates nationwide, what I am certain of is this: The NRA’s fratricidal fire hits the Second Amendment hard. |

As Governor Phil Murphy continues to threaten New Jersey residents with further gun control and second amendment violations, Senator Ed Durr introduced a bundle of five gun rights bills this week, the first installment of his 15-bill package to advance safe, responsible firearm ownership for law abiding citizens.

The Tueller Drill is one of those shooting drills that you probably thought about a million times, but you never really knew what it was called. It’s pretty common to hear people inside the self-defense training community say something like, “Most defensive encounters happen within 21 feet, so practice shooting close.” In a nutshell, that’s the Tueller Drill.
Not all deadly encounters involve a bad guy with a gun. It could be a hammer, knife, tire iron, or axe. Frankly, it could be anything that someone picks to use as a weapon to harm you. The Tueller Drill was designed to illustrate just how fast a situation can turn deadly even if there isn’t a gun involved. |
