The .44 Remington Magnum (better known as simply .44 Mag) and .44 Smith & Wesson Special (also called .44 S&W Special, .44 Special, and .44 Spl) actually have more similarities than differences. Both cartridges were originally designed for big bore revolvers. Both fire heavyweight .429-inch (10.9 mm) bullets. And both are fine options for hunting and home defense.

When it comes to varmint hunting, lighter bullets with higher muzzle velocity are generally preferred as they are flat shooting and cause less damage to the meat and pelt. Heavier bullets are great for hunting big game animals like whitetail and elk, but the added recoil and cost is viewed as unnecessary for taking down smaller critters like woodchucks, foxes, coyotes, prairie dogs, and marmots.

Maybe Karma does exist, after all. At least, that’s the thought I had after seeing the face of the racist streamer Dalton Levi Eatherly, aka “Chud the Builder,” sink in court on May 15 after a judge set his bond at $1.25 million, meaning he’s sitting in jail right now as he faces attempted murder charges.
