Forget gun buybacks — now get ready for a gun giveaway. The man behind an effort to put free shotguns in the hands of homeowners says he’ll dole them out in the Big Apple by the end of the year — and the lawmen may not be able to stop him. “We’re coming — and we’re going to get shotguns into the hands of responsible citizens,” said Kyle Coplen, who founded the nonprofit the Armed Citizen Project in January. “When criminals fear the citizenry, it deters crime,” the 29-year-old added. |

While a Cold Spring mother was unnerved to receive an anonymous call questioning her support for the state’s new gun-reform act, she still plans to deliver a petition this week to members of the Putnam County Legislature who passed a resolution against the law. Alexandra Dubroff said she received a call Monday afternoon from an unidentified man who, while polite, strongly encouraged her to change her position. “To be honest, it is disconcerting,” she said. “I feel like they are trying to bully me.” |

I have seen the light. After all these years, I now agree that it’s fruitless to give the benefit of the doubt to people who are so obviously corrupt, so clearly malevolent, so bent on hurting innocent people for their own sick gain. No more due process in the clear-cut case of insidious terrorism. ... Send the guilty monsters directly to Guantanamo Bay for all eternity and let them rot in their own mental squalor. No, no, no. Not the wannabe sick kid who blew up the Boston marathon or the freak that’s mailing ricin-laced letters to the president. I’m talking about the real terrorist threat here in America:

The board of the National Rifle Association will elect as its president Monday a hard-line culture warrior who has worked for decades to make the NRA a more aggressive political force. The election of James Porter — ensured after the endorsement of outgoing President David Keene last week — is one of many defiant signals to come out of the NRA's annual meeting in Houston over the weekend. The organization vowed to continue to fight any compromise on gun-control legislation in Congress. "Revenge is what's motivating the president's unrelenting attacks on gun owners today," Porter told the group's meeting Saturday amid news that the NRA's membership had grown to a record 5 million. |

Gun people don’t trust anti-gun people because they keep saying they “respect the Second Amendment” and go on about how they respect the hunting traditions of America. We don’t trust you because you have to be a complete idiot to think the Second Amendment is about hunting. I wish people weren’t so stupid that I have to say this: The Second Amendment is about checking government tyranny. Period. End of story. The founders probably couldn’t have cared less about hunting since, you know, they just got done with that little tiff with England called the Revolutionary War right before they wrote that “little book” called the Constitution. |

At its annual meeting in Houston, Texas, Saturday, the National Rifle Association unanimously adopted a WND columnist’s resolution to stand “steadfast in opposition to any and all expansion of firearms laws” in the United States.
Jeff Knox is head of the Firearms Coalition and author of the weekly “Knox Gun-Rights Report” column on WND.
Knox’s resolution commended the staff and leadership of the NRA for standing against further gun-control laws and insisted the media had engaged in a campaign of “lies and distortions” to paint even the NRA as favoring more restrictive legislation. |

I raced off stage in Tampa after throttling my 6511th high energy rockout, mopped up as much dripping sweat as I could, changed into dry clothes, grabbed a Gatorade and a sack of food, hung onto my gorgeous wife, Shemane, and headed to the airport lickity split.
We landed in Houston an hour and half later, met by a commando in a black SUV, and hauled a– to the hotel across from the jam packed Sam Brown Convention Center. |

Protesters demonstrated in front of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's hometown office Monday over his vote against a bill widely supported by the public that would have expanded background checks for gun sales.
A group of about 30 people, mostly women, gathered in front of McConnell's Louisville offices and held up signs that said "Background Checks Save Lives" and "Shame on You Senator." They dropped off a petition with 1,200 signatures demanding that the senator support "sensible gun reform." |

Debate on the measures, even from opponents, often opened with, “I am a supporter of the Second Amendment,” and it was clear that House members were trying to outgun each other. That is why bills moved forward allowing students to carry concealed firearms on college campuses, and that would criminally punish state and federal officials who tried to enforce any new federal gun-control measures.
Senate leaders have previously said such measures would be dead on arrival there. And this newspaper hopes that is the case for the majority of these House bills. |

Last Friday, we brought you news of the Liberator, the world’s first firearm created using nearly entirely 3D-printed parts. This weekend brought the update that the one-shot Liberator — a pistol made entirely of ABS plastic with the exception of a nail you can find at any hardware store as the firing pin — has been successfully test fired by its lead designer, Cody Wilson. And courtesy of Forbes‘ Andy Greenberg, here’s the video to prove it.

Shelby County Commissioners voted down a resolution Monday, May 6, that would have backed the idea of state legislators and county sheriffs across the state “nullifying” federal gun control laws they consider unconstitutional.
The debate about Commissioner Terry Roland’s “Second Amendment Preservation Resolution” dominated a short commission agenda that also included a resolution honoring Commissioner Steve Mulroy for donating a kidney last week to the Methodist Healthcare transplant program. |

Unless there is legal pushback, properly certified residents of King will soon be allowed to bring their handguns onto city property.
The King City Council approved a motion during its regular meeting Monday night to alter the town’s ordinance prohibiting concealed handguns on city property. The amendment — which was approved 3-1 — will allow residents with concealed weapons permits to carry their firearms into city-owned or operated buildings and related properties. The council also unanimously approved a motion to allow licensed individuals to carry concealed handguns in public parks and recreational facilities. |

While thousands of NRA members were in Houston celebrating the Second Amendment at the gun lobby’s Annual Meetings and Exhibits, the Texas House got busy on Saturday approving a dozen or so pro-gun bills, leading lawmakers to dub the session ‘Gun Day.”
Most of the measures were tentatively approved by simple voice votes, but several sparked heated debate, including one that would legalize campus carry and another that would render any new federal gun laws unenforceable within the Lone Star state’s borders. |

On Feb. 19, Seward County commissioners voted to pass a resolution similar to one passed in many other counties across the country to protect the rights of gun owners in light of proposed federal legislation that would make a person register for weapons.
After a few Kansas counties passed resolutions to that effect, Gov. Sam Brownback signed into law the state’s Second Amendment Protection Act – SB-102.
The fight is still not over, however, as federal leaders, including U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, have called Kansas’ law unconstitutional. Another step in the battle will be taken tonight when the commission considers a county resolution in support of the state’s Second Amendment Protection Act. |
