"You're almost there."

"Regardless of who wins the presidential election, you'll have a candidate who agrees with you on government seizure of control of the private sale of arms. ... you think that the next order of business after that will be a real 'assault weapons ban' ..."

"So things could not be brighter - you're almost there ..."

"Wrong."

"Not even close." ...

"Pass a ban on private sales of arms and we will defy it."

"Pass a ban on semiautomatic rifles of military utility -- in effect, try to disarm us -- and we will refuse to turn them in."

"Send thugs to come and take them from us and we will shoot back."

"People are going to die - lots of people."

"And that's only the beginning." ...

There's plenty in this issue, including a look at "West Point's 'Library' of Guns," "Tommy Gun" marksmanship, Elmer Keith hunting lions, the story of "Pistol Pete" Eaton, and more, including the classic period gun ads.

But here's what really stands out:

"Sullivan Law: This Law Makes Crime Safe," is a must-read, and gives us an invaluable analysis and perspective on the background, effects and implications of this evil, unAmerican edict that provided the model for urban citizen disarmament.

"I'll never understand how some people in our society relegate the responsibility of human behavior onto an inanimate object made of metal and wood."

"Guest columnist C.D. Chamberlain's concern for the safety of our children regarding firearm deaths is most certainly laudable. His column began with the anticipation of discussing real solutions for these terrible tragedies, but then sadly deteriorated into nothing more than unrealistic antigun rhetoric."

"Mr. Chamberlain's sarcastic answer for ending these deaths is to ban ammunition for all firearms. Gee, as simple as that! I'll admit it's a different and humorous spin by the antigun establishment, however, as usual, it is void of any positive substance." ...

"After I sent an e-mail letting the Mayor & the Toronto City Council know that I will NOT be spending any money in their city as a result of their anti-gun owner rhetoric, I found out so much more by the responses I received! According to Toronto City Council Councilor Joe Mihevc & his executive assistant Sean Hill, they & other Canadians 'overwhelmingly' endorse Obama (see below). The Councilor & his assistant also hold a considerable amount of contempt towards American Gun owners & Arizona Gun Owners in particular. Check out the below communications thread I had with them. My first e-mail was sent to the Mayor & all of the members of the Toronto City Council ..." ...

"Last week, Buckeye Firearms Association Legislation Chair Ken Hanson sounded the alarm on gun manufacturers who continue to aid gun banners, and announced project 'Correct Kimber':"
"We, the consumers, must intervene to help save gun manufacturers from their self-destructive habits. Like any other intervention, tough love is needed. 'We love you, we love your products and want to support you, but we can no longer stand by and watch you destroy yourself.'" ...
"In his article, Hanson is inviting gun owners to contact Kimber, and some have forwarded letters they are sending to the corporation." ...

"One prominent attorney, who asked not to be identified for security reasons, drove from his office directly to the border with a police escort after being notified that kidnappers planned to kill him for speaking out against the crime wave."

"He and his family slept on air mattresses and sofa beds in a San Ysidro apartment for weeks until he closed escrow on a home in Eastlake. He shut down his office in a Tijuana high-rise and now works from his American home."

"'I had to change cities, houses, countries, offices,' he said. 'It's a life of constant fear.'" ...

"What's a comma got to with it? In a major Supreme Court case, the small punctuation mark could make or break gun laws in America."

The case, District of Columbia v. Heller, deals with whether or not the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, or whether it only covers a collective right of the states to have a militia."

"D.C. bans handguns, making it one of the strictest gun control laws in the country. The plaintiff in the case, Dick Heller, sued the city in 2003, arguing that the law violates his constitutional rights. The case has made its way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which is likely to hand down its ruling any day." ...

"The old adage, 'God made men; Sam Colt made them equal,' applies to women, too."

"Women across the country are packing classes where they learn about all aspects of handgun ownership. One of the main reasons for attending these classes, they say, is to learn more about how to take charge of their own safety."

"Carol, a thirty-something mother from Connecticut, explained her participation in a class: 'My husband convinced me that it would be to my benefit to learn how to use a handgun. The experience actually opened up a whole new world for me. I'm really enjoying shooting and learning about different calibers and actions --- not to mention getting to spend more time with my husband.'" ...

"Now a senior at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Springthorpe continues to shoot for sport as president of the Tar Heel Rifle and Pistol Club (THRPC). For college students to participate in a gun club – or even work on their own to start one – seems almost an anachronism, antithetical to the political correctness of the academic world."

"My uncle tells stories about being in the rifle club when he was in high school. A few years ago, I visited a private catholic school that still had a shooting range in the basement (though it is now defunct). In the nineties, I visited Edinboro University in Pennsylvania which had a operational shooting range (I don't know if it is still in existence there). In the recent past, though, shooting sports on college campuses and high schools had all but died out due to the ill-conceived notion that "guns and kids don't mix" toted by the gun grabbers."

"Now, though, the shooting sports are making a comeback in colleges, and hopefully high schools won't be far behind." ...

"Obama is a bald-faced liar - he does not support you or me. Obama has an atrocious record on your most fundamental and most important right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution: The right to a firearm for self-defense. You won't hear it from the media. Over the years he has either voiced support for, or voted to enact laws to: Ban all handguns, ban the sale or transfer of all semi-automatics, ban the right to carry in every state, and ban firearms in the home, even for self-protection. ..." ...

FULL TEXT BELOW:

A state legislator from Nassau County and law enforcement officials yesterday urged the state Senate to pass a bill mandating that new semi-automatic guns feature technology that would stamp each shell casing with details about the weapon.

The technology, called micro-stamping, would imprint bullet casings with the gun's make, model and serial number. That would enable detectives to analyze casings left at crime scenes to trace the weapon's original buyer and the shop where it was sold, said Assemb. Michelle Schimel (D-Great Neck), who sponsored a similar bill in the state Assembly.

An attractive young female motorist who followed this advice found herself held at gunpoint, handcuffed and searched by real police officers in Greene County, Missouri last week."

"... An unmarked police cruiser pulled behind her vehicle and activated its lights. Kimery immediately put on her flashers and slowed to acknowledge the vehicle behind. "By blocking out the windows in the range and shutting off the lights, owner Chris Short can provide a low-light environment in a controlled situation, so officers can practice at any time of day." ...

"Police recruits and veteran officers could benefit from more frequent firearms training and a wider use of Taser stun guns, according to a study of the New York Police Department’s shooting habits released on Monday."

"The study, by the RAND Corporation, was commissioned in January 2007, about seven weeks after a Queens man, Sean Bell, died in a hail of 50 police bullets. Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said at the time that questions about the department’s effectiveness and training required an independent review."
