"We also have a policy that if you're driving on one of those streets and a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle and threatens you, you have a right to flee for your safety. And so if you drive off and you hit one of these people, that's their fault for impinging on you," he said.
Alana Greer, director of the Community Justice Project in Miami, said protesters are protected under the law and should be aware of their rights.
"It is not legal in the state of florida by any stretch of the imagination to harm people with cars during a lawful protest and i think to stoke that kind of, that sentiment is really an effort to chill people from going out and exercising their right," she said. |

The Second Amendment is a constitutional right many Americans say they’re willing to fight for.
“An armed society is a safe society,” Greenville resident David Giro says. “That’s what America is all about. I also know that it’s about the heart of people. What they do with an object is what matters. It’s not so much the object.”
That’s why he says he’s excited about the bill titled “Freedom to Carry NC,” or Senate Bill 50, that will allow U.S. Citizens 18 years and older, without a felony, to carry a concealed gun without a permit. |

Back in January of 2023, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a controversial measure that made it unlawful for any person in Illinois to manufacture, deliver, sell, import, purchase or possess commonly owned semi-automatic firearms that the bill had categorized as “assault weapons.” The bill made it a crime to manufacture, deliver, sell, purchase or possess so-called “large capacity ammunition feeding devices,” defined as rifle mags holding more than 10 rounds and handgun mags that hold more than 15. |

During the first Trump administration, John Lott accepted a position at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Specifically, he went to work as a senior adviser for research and statistics at the Office of Justice Programs—this is a DOJ division that gives out billions in grants annually. This DOJ division has given millions of dollars to academics—some who have a clear bias against your right to keep and bear arms.
In his new role as an advisor, Lott tried to bring some balance to these massive grant allocations. He ran into a lot of resistance from officials in various agencies within the DOJ. |

News that the Democratic National Committee has ousted David Hogg, the 25-year-old gun control extremist-turned-liberal activist who clashed with party leaders over his plan to primary allegedly ineffective incumbents, should not be taken as a permanent breakup.
With its increasingly radical gun prohibition agenda, the DNC will need to keep Hogg around, just not as the party’s vice chairman. Likewise, to achieve his gun control goals, Hogg will need the DNC, and everybody knows it. |

In a recent press conference flanked by fellow anti-gun Democrats, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) made a series of alarming—and misleading—statements about firearm suppressors, also known as “silencers.” His remarks came in response to growing Republican support for the Hearing Protection Act (HPA), which would remove suppressors from the outdated National Firearms Act (NFA) tax and registry scheme.
Murphy claimed the bill would effectively “mass legalize” suppressors, making mass shootings “two or three times worse,” and even accused the firearms industry of wanting to sell to criminals. |

A police investigation concluded Michai and his 16-year-old friend and into a fight with Ismael Cruz Delcid, who was 18 years old at the time.
Cruz Delcid admitted shooting and killing Michai and also shooting at but missing the 16-year-old.
Cruz Delcid says he shot in self-defense. But he's accused of burying the gun, stripping out of some of his clothes, destroying his cellphone and hiding out for more than day before finally turning himself into police.
Prosecutors argued that's not the behavior of someone acting in self defense.
Regardless, the jury could not come to a unanimous decision. |

Holton Township, located in Muskegon County, Michigan, has taken a bold step to safeguard the Second Amendment rights of its approximately 2,500 residents by establishing its own militia. This decision comes shortly after the township passed a Second Amendment Resolution, expressly stating its intent not to enforce new red-flag laws that restrict gun ownership in the state.
Officials believe this development highlights a growing concern among citizens regarding their gun rights and government regulations. The militia aims to empower local residents to actively participate in protecting those rights, sparking discussions on individual freedoms and local governance across the nation. |

Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson on May 20 signed into law a controversial policy requiring gun buyers to first pay for a new state permit.
Starting in two years, House Bill 1163 will require those interested in purchasing guns to apply for a five-year permit through the Washington State Patrol. Applicants must pay a fee and have completed a certified firearms safety training program within the past five years, with limited exceptions.
“Gun violence in Washington state breaks apart too many families and kills too many children,” Ferguson said. “We must put commonsense reforms into place that save lives.” |

“How did they get the gun?”
It’s the question everyone asks after a child takes their own life, shoots a family member or opens fire in a school. The answer is almost always heartbreakingly close to home: They got it from us.
In youth suicides involving a firearm, more than 8 out of 10 children used a gun belonging to a family member, often their parents. In school shootings, it’s a familiar story: The gun was taken from home, from a parent who didn’t think it could happen.
The weapon used to murder my little Daniel in his first-grade classroom at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, was taken by the shooter from his mother. |

Lawsuits were filed against the Biden administration over the ban. When Donald Trump took over as president, those lawsuits were still ongoing – so his administration agreed to a settle them in May. In the settlement, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agreed to return any forced-reset triggers that the country had “seized or taken as a result of a voluntary surrender.”
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said the move violates state law. “That is because numerous States independently prohibit the distribution and possession of FRTs, but individuals or entities in these states are not excluded from receiving the return of seized FRTs under the agreement,” according to the lawsuit. |
