To the members of the Alexandria City Council: As a gun owner with a Concealed Handgun Permit (“CHP”) and native of Alexandria, I believe that your proposed anti-gun ordinance will infringe upon my freedoms. What right does the City of Alexandria have to take away the right of self-defense? Gun rights are human rights. Gun rights are women's rights. The right to self-defense is especially important right now, as lawless looters and criminals assault bystanders and damage and burn buildings in Virginia and across the nation.

To read some of the “Letters to the Editor” regarding the SLC judge primary election, you’d think that Second Amendment infringement was the main concern. Rejecting the idea of registering guns strikes me as an overreaction since we live in a regulated society where you must get a license for just about everything. People are allowed to have guns and no one is going to take away a gun unless that privilege is abused.

Lots of politicians take photos with guns and beat their chests about how much they support the Second Amendment, but quickly forget who elected them when they get into office.

Thats not Jeff Gallahan. He is the real deal. We can count on him to stand up to Cuomo and defend our rights.

In the seven days following Floyd’s death, the state processed 30,657 background checks, more than twice the number processed over the same time last year. The surge peaked June 2, when the state processed 10,318 background checks in one day.

With Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s raft of new gun controls set to take effect on July 1st, Alexandria Mayor Justin M. Wilson and the City Council are wasting no time in attacking gun rights. Baca decided to retreat from the event, perhaps after being threatened by masked leftists. He is struck with a green skateboard, wielded by a masked man in black clothes, but remains upright and continues to retreat. A group of leftists pursue him, strike him again, and knock him to the ground. As he is on the ground, being attacked, he fires a pistol four times, striking one of the attackers. One of his attackers has a skateboard. It may be the person who struck him earlier, but it is not clear.

Consideration of Manitowoc County as a Second Amendment sanctuary was slowed by the state's "safer-at-home" status.

The resolution, based on boilerplate language available on the internet, was introduced by Supervisor Don Zimmer.

It sought to "declare Manitowoc County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary County ... opposing the enactment of any legislation that would infringe on the rights of the people to keep and bear arms and consider such laws to be unconstitutional and beyond lawful legislative authority."

Mt. Pleasant resident Taylor Stalter, a member of a group called the “Michigan Militia of Love,” defended Birdsong’s group of protesters. He yelled at members of the crowd that the protesters too were simply there exercising their rights.

With an AR-15 style pistol slung across his chest, Stalter tried to convince Birdsong’s group that the goals of militia groups and their protest weren’t in conflict. Stalter said he’s been traveling to Detroit to support protesters against racism and police brutality in that city.

Haller said that an investigation into the Feb. 12, 2020, incident at 3443 Grinnell Road near Yellow Springs included the Greene County Sheriff's Office, the Ohio Bureau of Investigation, with help from the Greene County Prosecutor's Office, Cedarville, police and authorities in North Carolina and Texas.

One of the three police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor after the execution of a no-knock warrant has been fired from the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer announced the decision to fire Officer Brett Hankison in an abrupt, one-minute press conference and cited state law for the brevity of his comments.

“Unfortunately,” Fischer said, “due to a provision in state law that I very much would like to see changed, both [Chief Rob Schroeder] and I are precluded from talking about what brought us to this moment, or even the timing of the decision.”

Four men broke into the building, housing a south Philadelphia gun store a bit after 4:00 AM. What they didn’t know was that the owner, concerned about the recent riots and a previous break-in attempt, was in the store that night monitoring state of the art surveillance cameras.

Seeing the men entering the building, the owner prepared to defend himself as the men proceeded up the stairs to his business. One of the suspects reportedly pointed a handgun at him, and he fired in self-defense, killing one and wounding another.

When the 22 WMR, or 22 Magnum, debuted in 1959, it was intended as a more powerful, longer-range alternative to the ubiquitous 22 Long Rifle cartridge. As such, it was meant to be a rifle cartridge, but like its predecessor, the cartridge was offered in a pistol configuration almost immediately.

The 22 Magnum cartridge boasts more velocity over the 22 LR, even in light-weight shorter-barreled handguns, and the debate over the 22 Magnum's viability as a low-recoiling self-defense option has gained some attention in recent years.

The Saturday demonstration is expected to draw an estimated 200 gun owners over concerns that the Second Amendment rights of African Americans are not respected, organizer Omar Chatman told the Oklahoman.

Is the text of the Second Amendment contrary to slavery? So argued the great abolitionist Lysander Spooner in his 1845 book The Unconstitutionality of Slavery. When the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified in 1866-68, the Amendment's supporters agreed with Spooner that if the Second Amendment were enforced, slavery would be impossible.

Why Did the Roberts Court Punt on Ten Second Amendment Cases?

If you’re counting along at home, that’s four Justices — Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh — in favor of the Court’s reviewing Second Amendment issues. Those four together can grant certiorari in any case they wish. One presumes that the only reason they didn’t do so in one of the ten Second Amendment cases the Court passed on Monday is that they were unsure how Chief Justice Roberts would vote once the cases were heard.

To be clear, the Court wasn’t in want of choice. The ten cases pending before it covered issues ranging from New Jersey’s handgun-carry regulations (Rogers) to California’s presumptively unsafe handgun law (Pena v. Horan) and Massachusetts’ “assault weapon” and “high-capacity magazine” bans (Worman v. Healey).
