"Initial reports indicate that a male and female teen were asked to leave a train they were riding related to a violation. The subjects and the employee exited the train and it appears an altercation occurred. The ongoing investigation indicates that the employee was attacked by the two teens, which led to a stabbing in self-defense," SacRT said in a statement. "The safety of our riders and employees remains our highest priority. We will continue to support law enforcement and take any further necessary actions to assist officials as more information becomes available."

The sheriff's office did not share any further information regarding the boy's identity.

The bill is relaxing some restrictions on gun ownership while maintaining regulations to prevent misuse. House Bill 10246 aims to update the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 10591) by integrating licensing and enabling more Filipinos to own firearms for self-defense legally.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) just urged the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to strike down Illinois’s “assault weapon” and magazine restrictions.

In a brief filed late last week, the DOJ asked the court to extend Second Amendment protections to ammunition magazines, AR-15s, and other firearms targeted by the state’s ban. The DOJ argued the court should reverse its previous analysis upholding the state’s ban on what it labelled “militaristic“ weapons in 2023’s Bevis v. City of Naperville. The brief said the appeals court should instead side with the district court that initially blocked the law.

As Governor Ron DeSantis’s time in office winds down due to term limits, Floridians will soon need to decide who is to take the helm, and one candidate has stepped up with a uniquely interesting strategy. His name is David Jolly, and he is a Democrat who plans to engage gun owners for their support of his 2026 candidacy while convincing them they need stricter gun laws and less freedom. Okay, I called his strategy “uniquely interesting,” but never said it was particularly smart.

In a bold move that’s catching fire across the Garden State, Englishtown, New Jersey, just made history. Mayor Daniel Francisco and his borough council passed a first-of-its-kind resolution rebating $150 of the state’s $200 concealed carry permit fee back to law-abiding residents. And according to Francisco, phones are ringing off the hook from other towns eager to follow suit.

Second Amendment advocacy groups are working overtime to secure major victories included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act by House and Senate Republicans and push back against uninformed Democratic attacks aimed at those wins.

Led by Gun Owners of America and others such as the National Rifle Association, the Firearms Policy Coalition, and key House and Senate gun rights advocates, a major campaign is on to limit the scope of the Al Capone era National Firearms Act.

We’ve reported many times over the past year or so about how different government entities curtailing the Second Amendment rights of lawful Americans who are 18, 19 and 20 years old. In fact, gun ownership is the only constitutional right enumerated in the Bill of Rights that is regularly infringed upon.

Now, a federal judge in Colorado has upheld that state’s law requiring gun buyers to be 21 or older, a blatant infringement of Second Amendment rights for young adults in the Centennial State.

It’s not uncommon for North Idaho women to have guns in their home — but many lack the skills needed to use one effectively in a self-defense situation.

Adelina Mae is looking to change that.

Mae began "Girls Just Wanna Have Guns," a woman-owned and operated business, after realizing her own mother didn’t know how to use the guns her father kept in the home.

“My mom of all people, who has had guns in her house for a long time, did not know how to use the gun in her own nightstand,” Mae said.

More American children and teens die from firearms than any other cause, but there are more deaths — and wider racial disparities — in states with more permissive gun policies, according to a new study.

The study, published in the medical journal JAMA Pediatrics last week, analyzes trends in state firearm policies and kids’ deaths since 2010, after the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in McDonald v. City of Chicago. The ruling struck down the city’s handgun ban, clearing the way for many states to make it easier for people to buy and carry guns.

The legislation responds directly to states like California and Colorado, which have implemented new excise taxes on firearms and ammunition. California’s new 11% tax, enacted in 2023, is framed as a way to fund public safety programs – but critics say it’s really a thinly veiled attempt to discourage lawful gun ownership. Colorado followed with a 6.5% excise tax on firearms, ammo, and precursor parts. According to the NRA-ILA, other states including Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, New Mexico, and Washington are considering similar proposals.

The state senate’s Law and Public Safety Committee cleared nine bills related to gun safety and regulation at its June 19 meeting at the Statehouse in Trenton.

The bills range from upgrading crimes for manufacturing guns to allowing for the court system to have more time considering pretrial release or pretrial detention when a gun crime is involved.

Eight of the nine bills were introduced in the upper chamber last year. Five of them have already passed the full Assembly.

The allegedly defamatory output was generated on May 3, 2023, when Frederick Riehl, editor of the pro-Second Amendment website AmmoLand.com, used ChatGPT to summarise a press release and legal complaint filed by the SAF against Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson. Riehl, who was also a member of SAF’s board at the time, pasted excerpts of the Ferguson complaint into ChatGPT, which the system summarised accurately. However, when he later provided a URL to the complaint and asked ChatGPT to summarise it, the chatbot responded with a fabricated summary naming Walters as a plaintiff.

Carrying is legal, but how you carry and act with the weapon matters a great deal, he said.

“You have to do quite a few things with that firearm for it to be a crime,” Aposhian continued. “And I mean, you’ve got to display it with the intent to intimidate in a non-self-defense situation, in an angry or threatening manner and the presence of two or more people. It sounds like it could have risen to that.”

Aposhian, who has studied gun-rights issues and lobbied for gun rights for years but is not an attorney, said the legality of Gamboa’s handling of the rifle and the peacekeeper’s decision to fire largely depend on where the gun’s barrel was pointed.

The Firearms Policy Coalition announced this week that Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has penned his signature to the state’s FPC-backed House Bill 407, repealing residency restrictions on concealed carry permits and expanding access to carry rights in the Bayou State. The newly signed HB 407 is set to go into effect Aug. 1, 2025, as Act 273.

It’s a move that marks another victory at the state level for Americans’ right to bear arms. It comes on the heels of the FPC’s right-to-carry lawsuit, Mate v. Westcott, which targeted unconstitutional residency requirements in Louisiana. That specific lawsuit came as part of a broader FPC campaign to do the same across the United States.

Wescott, that was filed as part of FPC’s work to eliminate unconstitutional residency requirements throughout the United States.

“On behalf of our members, we thank Rep. Ventrella for her leadership on this important issue and Gov. Landry for signing this bill into law,” said FPC President Brandon Combs. “We are thrilled that Louisiana has made this critical change to improve access to the right to bear arms.

Texas legislators are once again leading the charge to protect and expand Second Amendment rights, passing several pro-gun bills this session aimed at limiting federal overreach, affirming gun ownership, and defending against unconstitutional gun control tactics like red flag laws and gun buybacks.

The bills—now awaiting Governor Greg Abbott’s signature—send a clear message: Texas stands firm on the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, without interference from politically motivated fearmongering or federal strings.
