I was raised using machetes but about a dozen-and-a-half years ago, I took a spin with a Kukri clearing a ravine on my elderly mother’s land. Instantly, I became a huge fan. It snatched anything that got in its way, as a Southern comedian once said, “with the gusto of a hound dog in a slaughterhouse.” With that in mind, my curiosity was raised when I saw the downsized Trailhead Kukri on TOPS Knives’ website.

A federal appeals court just found a one-gun-a-month restriction violates the Second Amendment.

On Friday, a unanimous three-judge panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that California’s one-gun-a-month law is facially unconstitutional. It rejected the argument that America’s historic laws justify the 30-day restrictions on firearm purchases. Instead, the panel found that limiting purchases violates the right to keep and bear arms.

Days before a gunman showed up at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, members of that church and its volunteer security team were learning how to protect their house of worship.

"If it isn't the norm for your church, it's probably the time to start thinking about it," said Matt Balla from Peacemakers Gun Range in Howell.

Churches across Michigan are taking security training seriously, from foundational gun handling abilities to more advanced skills.

"Working our way up from just a basic holster draw to what if there's multiple targets, multiple threats," Brad McClements, training coordinator at Peacemakers, said.

From the Associated Press down through PBS and local broadcast media—all using the AP story as their base—the establishment media appears to be having fits over a proposal included in President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” on taxes which would remove noise suppressors and short-barreled rifles and shotguns from regulation under the National Firearms Act (NFA).

A gas station manager in Prichard, Alabama, shot and killed an alleged armed robber shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

KPTV reported that the alleged armed robber was 17-years-old and was “wearing a hoodie, mask and orange gloves.”

Earlier this month, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo vetoed Assembly Bill 245, a contentious piece of legislation that would have barred individuals under 21 from possessing semiautomatic rifles and shotguns. The bill, passed by the Democratic-controlled Nevada Legislature, was one of the most high-profile gun control measures of the 2025 session.
