"Ever since the landmark Supreme Court ruling in District of Columbia v. Dick Anthony Heller on June 26, 2008 in which Justice Antonin Scalia’s majority opinion left open the door to open to some restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms, both sides – gun rights activists and gun prohibitionists – have been battling over just what might be considered a 'reasonable' gun control statute or ordinance."

"On one side, constitutional absolutists insist that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is absolute, that there may be no restrictions on the individual right to own any kind of firearm one wants."

"On the other side, gun prohibitionists ... argue that all manner of restrictions are acceptable." ...

"The secret government 'Terrorist Watch List,' reportedly already swelled to more than 1.1 million names, will have an addendum, if gun control advocates in Congress have their way. This new addendum — also to be cloaked in secrecy — would empower the U.S. Attorney General to deny a person the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights to purchase a firearm."

"While it is not surprising that some members of Congress are again using fear of terrorism to implement a gun-control agenda, the openly unconstitutional legislative language proponents are employing is troubling." ...

... "Like L. Neil Smith, I have a passion for well-made firearms; I love to hold them, disassemble, reassemble, clean and just appreciate them, as one would works of art. To look at the firearms of John Moses Browning and not recognize the genius of the man is hard to imagine. ... I also have a passion for the Smith and Wesson blue steel revolvers, Colt Single-Action-Army revolvers, old military style weapons and rifles capable of extreme accuracy at long distances. ..."

"I enjoy spending hours developing the skills necessary to put a group of bullet holes very close together at 800, 900 and 1000 yards. Wind, relative humidity, controlled breathing, ballistic coefficients and several other factors come into play each and every time I go out in search of perfection." ...

"In January, I was asked to join Examiner. The process was more involved than any other online publisher had ever put me through. I like the features, the look of the banner and, well, there’s a lot to like about Examiner."

"There are three reasons I accepted. 1) Examiner is a mainstream press with millions of readers per month. 2) It is the only mainstream press at this time to have a full-time lineup of nationally known second amendment experts, and; 3) I write to non-gun owners almost exclusively."

"Six years ago, I decided that there were tons of second amendment writers and tons of second amendment readers. ... My overall message was more about liberty and independence in America ..." ...

... "President Obama has tried to take both sides of the debate on whether people have the right to bear arms. He has in many cases worked to ban guns while at the same time acknowledging that the second amendment gives an individual the right to bear arms. How can we know what any politician means when almost all of them try to take both sides of an issue? Politicians try to hide their own views and convince you that whatever view you have, they support the common sense aspects of that view. We can try to determine President Obama’s position by some of his comments. When talking about the second amendment he seems to often refer to the rights of hunters. This is based more on politics because there are many hunters who are voters. ..." ...

The gun control movement has always had to suppress uncomfortable truths. Places where their agenda has been mostly achieved, whether Chicago, New York City, DC, or overseas, continue to have high levels of violence. The gun bans haven't worked and the law abiding citizens are left defenseless.

Yet the lies continue.

"A long-time family friend was playing with a loaded handgun in their Immokalee home— an accident, by all accounts."

Some might look at Simon's story and say, 'See? If only we had tighter gun laws, this would've never happened.'" ...

"Nationally renowned expert FSU Criminology Professor Gary Kleck has spent decades studying the numbers."

"He says there is no credible evidence that more guns in more hands mean more crime ..." ...

"So how do you protect the Simons of the world? You can't, Kleck says, at least not with the second amendment" ...

"GOA has been calling on our members to oppose this nomination since it is clear that Sotomayor is anti-Second Amendment and wants to legislate from the bench."

"The official position from current NRA leadership is to take a 'wait and see' approach to the Sotomayor nomination which may well allow her to wiggle through and be confirmed."

"GOA calls on all pro-gunners across America to urge NRA leadership to join in this critical fight to protect the Constitution — and especially our gun rights."

The Supreme Court decision ... has already produced plenty of litigation. Since it's a Supreme Court case, it can only be overruled by the Supreme Court. But even a Supreme Court decision can lose its authority by the slow erosion of lower court decisions." ...

"The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence sharply criticized the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) and Illinois Carry for holding a public rally Friday calling for ending Chicagos 27-year-old handgun ban only days after the tragic shooting of 9-year-old Chastity Turner ... Thirty-six Chicago Public School students were also killed during the '09 school year in a continuing rash of gun violence."

"Most troubling is the language, tone and materials that pro-gun groups are using to promote their rally in downtown Chicago. Ralph Connor, an African-American conservative who will speak at the rally, continues to preach a divisive message that 'gun control is racist' and is eagerly promoting a film that features him, called 'No Guns for Negroes.'"

As children played on the merry-go-round and tourists cruised the lakefront, the gathering was quiet but showed some signs of tension. One group of men sat around a flag hung upside-down and at half mast."
